Forums - Nintendo - Nintedo to cut -scratch that- RAISE Wii Price!

This thread reminds of 1-2 years ago, when a group of people were complaining that Nintendo sold hardware for a profit. Clearly some people assume that just because Sony is willing to lose money, other companies are also forced to.

A similar thing happened when Microsoft laid off people when they were posting profits. Clearly some people think Sony's way of doing business is the correct way.

Just wondering, but when we're seeing the PS3 beating the Wii so regularly and so badly in Japan these days, what do you think would happen in Japan if the PS3 price stayed the same while the Wii price went up?

...So... so is the PS3 bating the Wii in the UK now?

I'm not sure what parallel you are trying to draw.

retailers will be split, lower volume areas will raise the price and high volume areas with competition will eat the price, or offer a free game with the raised price.

nintendo does everything first xD this was not going to be an exception rite... don't worry, sony will follow in a month or two, then a lot of people will claim it was sony's idea first... and sony will say that they were planning this for years xD

Yeah it's also the first time that a console manufacturing company which was ready to shutter because of ~10 years of being dominated, came back out of the gutter to raise prices after two  years of a consoles release!

Link...or r u pulling things out of .....

er..... yes that is what I meant

The trade price of a Wii before was £112. I know this because last year I got my Wii for free with a phone contract, and I asked how much they paid Nintendo for each Wii- £112 was the going rate, so less tax, 17.5% at that time, retailers made just over £35 per Wii, which will now be reduced to £14-£15 it seems.
