^Isn't that a good thing for JRPG's?

Not for American reviewers.

WEll Game Informer seems to be the next Play magazine as they seem to be giving extremely high reviews.

Blue Dragon got a 9.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

While Folklore not being traditional hurt its sales in Japan, it doesn't mean the reviews will be hurt by that.

From both Japanese and American demos of Folklore, I think it's a pretty good Action/RPG game.

Also, I just got my 360 back today so I'll be playing Bioshock very soon, just downloading some demos I missed and stuff.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Folklore is not even a RPG. Like I see it, gamers put everything that could be a RPG but isn't at all in the Action RPG genre, fair enough. That's where Zelda, Folklore and others are put, but none of them are RPG. I suppose Mass Effect is an Action RPG too.

As for what makes a JRPG great, that sure enough is not a typical story that has nothing mindblowing.
Every very good RPG has a very good story, some of the best have really impressive stories.
Blue Dragon clearly does not have that. I wonder how they'll rate Eternal Sonata, which is very lacking in story too.

this game pwns, its not perfect, its a solid next-gen rpg... so far i'm 20 hours in.... i'm lvl 40... i would give it a rating of 8.5/10... i lov it.

seems to be be different review so far, game informer gave it a 9, said it was great, they gave eternal a 8.25 so they said BD was better. Personally i think it was made for japanese audiences, and lost odyssey will be our jrpg that rocks.

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

I thought most of the reviewers were on smack, reviweing Blue Dragon so low. Then I tried for a few hours it at a friends house.

Now my brain and wallet are thanking me. 4/10

My cousin bought it today and I got it today via gamefly and so far being lv 10 I am enjoying the game. Just to give some background my cousin and I are hardcore jrpg fans from the snes days and some genesis playing the lights of lufia,ff,bof and many others. So far we really enjoy it and hope it stays that way. Funny thing is most bad reviews I seen complain mainly about the story and lack of innovation (there goes that word again) but almost all gave the battle system to be fairly good which so far has proven to be true. Again only lv 10 and so far the story is decent and the fighting has been good especially since I am trying to beat it without grinding by relying more on strategy then brute force. Only wish they allowed you to pick hard from the start as the only rpg I have ever played again was chrono trigger due to the +game. I am hoping it sells well though mainly so that more jrpg are made as my cousin and I enjoy them.

I think it should be able to sell at least 500,000 worldwide. It's done nearly 200k in Japan already, so EU and NA should be able to fill the gap no problem.

Games you and your cousin should look forward to: Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, Cry On, and Infinite Undiscovery. If you like Square Enix, also look out for The Last Remanent.

i wonder why gamespot gave Two Worlds a higher Rating than Blue Dragon....
