Forums - Microsoft - Congratulations Ensemble on Halo Wars annihilating expectations.

With first week sales over SIX TIMES the amount sold by it's nearest RTS rivals, and just under six times the first week sales of the nearest TTS (Sid Meier's Civilisation Relolution), Halo Wars has sold brilliantly.  It's first week sales have already surpassed the lifetime sales of all other strategy games on the Xbox 360 according to VGChartz figures.  Indeed, it seems likely it will more than double the sales of it's nearest rivals, and quite possibly triple them.

With 690,000 copies shifted in just the first week, it's possible Ensemble's swansong will have done exactly for console RTS's what Halo did for console FPS's (albeit on a smaller scale).  Rather than being just another generic, genre following, graphically updated entry into the gaming world, Halo Wars has chosen to try and expand a genre by making it directly console-applicable.  Indeed, having played the entire campaign I can say that the action/special moves focus feels brilliantly honed, and is an excellent achievment.

go halo

while i'm certain the name has a lot to do with it.. well done ensemble. Impressive first week sales for a console rts. (wasn't actually more than what i was expecting though)

Check out my game about moles ^

Having played the game, I don't think the name has much to do with it at all. The game plays beautifully. It's a great experimental leap into the future of console RTS's.

I wouldn't say annihilating....

And fuck you Microsoft for dissolving one of the best RTS creators, for absolutely no reason!

"anhilating"

lol....not even close

but its done well no doubt.....bad for a HALO Branded game

but fantastic for a console RTS

The only extra sales it gets over Command and Conquer are people buying it because it says Halo on the box. Don't even pretend otherwise.
