Forums - Sales - Halo Wars didn't match up to Killzone's first week sales.

There were several posts on here about whether Killzone 2 or Halo Wars would outsell the other.  Well, after first week sales results for both have come out, it appears that we have a clear cut winner in Killzone 2.  Halo Wars came in with 200,000 less copies sold than did Killzone 2 in its first week while Killzone 2 had a very strong second week selling well over half the number of games that Halo Wars did in its first week, and Halo Wars had a considerably bad showing in Europe where it failed to sell over 100,000 copies while 80% of the Halo Wars sales came in the American market.

Killzone 2 has passed the million seller mark in just its second week while it now looks like it will take Halo Wars at least a few more weeks to reach this milestone.

What do you think of the way the sales for these two games turned out?

I expected Halo Wars to outsell KZ2, because it is Halo, after-all.

So either KZ2 has done very well or Halo Wars has not done as well as anticipated.

I think it is a mixture of both.

Halow Wars is a friggin console RTS. If it didnt' have halo in the name it would have sold 1/10th the amount it did. I'm amazed how well HW even sold actually. Killzones sales aren't surprising.

I think that it's predictable. Anyone who said Halo Wars will outsell Killzone 2 first week is just ranting on fanatic fanboyism. On one hand, we've got Killzone 2. A FPS that's been hyped for 4 years and is a First-Person Shooter, something that is well known to sell well in the 6th and 7th generations.

On the other hand, we have Halo Wars. Sure it has Halo strapped to the title, but it's a RTS in a world where RTS's are very few and far inbetween, and good RTS's are even harder to find.

I personally think Halo Wars will have better legs, as more and more people get interested into the idea of a RTS for consoles and find out that Halo Wars does it well. While Killzone 2 will obviously have a better first several weeks of sales.

Why must JRPG female leads suck so bad?

i'm starting to hate both Killzone and HALO wars because of you people.

muwhahahahahaha!

lol

but RTS vs FPs isn't fair

then again it is a HALO branded game....disappointing sales for it in that respect

yet great sales in the RTS on a console way

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

^ I am with you on this. I think in hind sight the Halo Wars sales were always going to be good but I never really saw the comparison with KZ2.

I think KZ2 has done as well as was reasonable to expect and Halo Wars also just I never actually expected much from Halo Wars so was a pleasant suprise.

That's very faulty logic. You really think for instance a Halo puzzle game would sell millions?

genre is everything

FLAME BAIT

Only the ignorant thought halo wars would outsell kz2.

Yeah sure there was lots of bs from ps3 fanboys that loads of people bought halo wars thinking it was another fps...

Yeah sure, some people did. Just like some people thought kz2 would live up to it's hype.

looks average.
