Very boring, feels old. No wonder since it's from -99. Limited gameplay options (just death match and flag hunting). I hate the "setting", the environments feel synthetic and artificial. The fast pace seems unnatural. But I always hated Quake 3 and UT. I semi-liked Quake 2 because of the lack of competition back then.

But it's kinda amazing to be able to play such a graphically advanced game in a browser. Had lots of lag moments with frequent freezing when I played though.

When there are amazing team based shooters like ET: Quake Wars, no one shuld wanna play Quake Live.

Actually I like Quake Live a lot. It's probably the first DM game I've ever liked (I missed Q3 by the way). Especially balance seems excellent compared to many other games - it's all about skill (and spawning next to a decent weapon :P). I've also had only little lag so far. And I like the fast pace but you have the right not to. Oh, and I also love ETQW, it's just hard to find balanced matches.

I can't deny that the balance is great. But how hard can it be (for such an extremely simple game)? Yeah I know, the simplicity is a big part of the game design, for balance and competition reasons in pro games and stuff.

Bit ET:QW has awesome balance too. Nuffin is overpowered (xcept tanks if you're a tank master).

It's only as hard as the skill of the player you play against. In all honesty if I wanted a slow and thinking game I'd just go back to WC3 and play that. Shooters shouldn't need crutches and slow speed.

Really now? There are better browser-based games out there, visually:

Or:

Game #2 is a bit smaller size-wise as well, FYI.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Wow that looks awesome on that screen. Are those real outdoors open environments and what is that game?

Fallen Empire: Legions. That's an ingame screenshot, and the game size is about 1/10th of the size of Quake Live, from my understanding. I work for the company that makes a proprietary system that allows for the port of virtually any game into your browser.

A few other screenies from our games:

Ace of Aces:

Lore: Aftermath

Blur (Unreleased, but soon)

Lots more I could mention. Awesome announcements coming up for GDC.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

But sistem requirements must be grim for Fallen Empire: Legions even if it's a browser game. But all browser games are software rendered, not through the GPU, rite?

BTW stickball, speaking of GDC, what happened with those rewived old IPs u made a thread about a while ago? R u still under NDA and will there be news soon?

IPs should be at GDC. That's all I'll say

And no, the system requirements for Fallen Empire are pretty easy. Most computers can run it without an issue. The system allows for usage of your GPU, unlike most browser based games, so you could run a Crysis-looking game that requires no better hardware than the installed, executable version.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Well on second thought, there are some details like spawn killing and some parts of maps are very hard for one side of the factions...

It's hard because it's so fast and there are better players out there. It's largely based on skills. I'm sure there are even faster games.

ETQW does have great balance, however its teams do not nearly always. That is the problem. I never felt so bad because of teams in W:ET.

Never been a fan of the fast based games such as deathmatch but in small doses they are almost always fun and I think that is the key.

Fallen Empire: Legions looks good already on the sign up page now..
