| MikeB said: @ saicho So Wii was sold out in its first two years. It had extremely big box? I have to wonder how you guys make this up, it shouldn't be too hard to understand what was stated. 1) I didn't say the PS3 is sold out. 2) I stated that the PS3 boxes are considerably larger, thus with equal shelf space fewer boxes fit onto the shelves. That's what I think is the primary reason why there are fewer PS3s in stock over here. The point is, if that's the case elsewhere (which makes sense) then there should be overall fewer PS3s on the shelves compared to Wiis and 360s worldwide and not the other way around, with VGChartz assuming 1 million more PS3s on the shelves than there were 360s on the shelves by the end of 2008, these 1 million PS3 boxes take up a lot of extra storage. So is PS3 shelf space considerably larger than 360 shelf space on average worldwide? Here it's about equal, but there are some less significant shops like Blokker which do not sell 360s, but do sell Wiis and PS3s. Is it really that hard to understand my points, people? |
Almost every store* I visit in the UK has MUCH larger 360 and Wii areas, the PS3 areas are usually put right at the back or in a corner and is shared with the blu ray movies so only has about half the games on the shelves compared to the 360 and Wii selections, I'll take some pictures next time I go if you want if you find this hard to believe lol, the stats prove this anyway as in the UK the Wii and 360 are always outselling the PS3, 360 was 15k higher than PS3 again this week (usually even higher, 20-25k)
It is a sad sight in Game and Gamestation as in the past the consoles at the back were the ones that were going down hill (gamecube, dreamcast etc), the 360 and Wii are always right at the front of the store ready to attract people walking in along with all the big 360 and Wii posters everywhere,
*The stores I refer to above are Game, Gamestation, Zavvi, HMV, Tesco, Sainsburys, Asda, these are the main places people buy consoles in the UK (excluding online).
