Worldwide PS2 sales in the past have also been heavily underestimated. Sales for the platform slowed considerably slower than VGChartz reported in the past.
I guess (and hope) it's a learning process, indentifying the areas where things can be improved. IMO certainly some unanswered questions in this thread is good food for self-reflection.
