Punishment should be different based on the victim?  I'm not entirely comfortable with that idea.

 

he was charged with "aggression against a foreign head of state".  so depending on the victim it is a different crime.

Ok, I thought it would just be assault or something like that.

I don't really care about Bush one way or the other, in fact, I can think of few things that bore me more than talking politics but I'll pipe up on this.

  1. Whether with a rock or shoe, the guy assaulted someone.  Hating someone doesn't give you the right to assault them.
  2. The guy was dumb enough to assault the President of the United States.  I'm surprised he only got three years.

well, the charge itself carries a maximum of 15 years.  officially... the judge(s) decided that because of his age(30) and clean record they would be lenient

so if tomorow, someone throws 2 shoes at Obama, you guys would say, 'hey no big deal, he should get a medal" ....
cause that would be the exact same event and the exact same crime, just the motive would be different, and having a motive actually makes a crime worse.
