Forums - Nintendo - Dark Cronicles planned just after UC1 was finished.

I think you're confusing cheap with experimental.

RE4, that was cheap (just the controls and some touched up textures). UC1 required creating several areas from scratch.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

And re-using several areas, especially from the RE0 portion.

This costs tons less than making RE4, since all the areas are pre-used, and especially since the game isn't interactive, are probably pre-rendered to cut down on time it takes to make the game, loading times and such.  They be terribly expensive, and Wii owners will continually buy them for some god-awful reason, yet complain when they don't get any main RE games.

It's your own fault.  Stop buying crap, and they'll stop making it.

"This costs tons less than making RE4"

I meant the port. Duh.

It'll be a good game, go read gonintendo, an article a few pages back confirms it'll be much better than UC

There's no room for reason in a thread about Darkside Chronicles. People are going to be irrationally pissed at this game until the day it comes out and is tons of fun.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

It's all "If you love me, you'll do this".

I know they want bigger games from Capcom, but they are assuming that this magically means the bigger games aren't coming.

People are still going to buy it since it has "Resident Evil" in it's name.

You keep putting MH3 as the exception but wouldn't its existence prove your point as incorrect? The fact that it seems like to be a first-rate effort from Capcom proves that they are in fact willing to put a great amount of effort into making a wii game shine.

I don't think it's time to give up on Capcom yet. As of right now they only have Lost Planet 2, Monster Hunter 3, Dead Rising 2 and Darkside Chronicles under development so thats 2 wii games and 2 PS360 games that we know of.  There's still plenty of time in the generation for them to get their act together.

You know Capcom have much more than that right?  Bionic Commando (PS360), a new Monster Hunter (PSP), Spyborgs (?), Dark Void (PS360), I believe some PSN/XBLA game also.

UC was not a test to see if Wii owners will buy 'core' games, it was a test to see if they would buy any cheap game with a big IP slapped on.  Same as other devs, they use IPs that are liked on the HD consoles to advertise some cheap game for the Wii, hoping people will cry "Yay Soul Calibur, Castlevania, Resident Evil, Dead Space!" and not care that the games share a name only.

People didn't like those IPs/games on other consoles because of the name, they liked them for gameplay.

I forgot Bionic Commando and Spyborgs.

Dark Void is being made by Airtight games. The new MH game is still a rumor at this point.

The point still holds. Its an even disrubution of wii to PS360 games. And there is still plenty of time for Capcom to do better.

I thought Capcom was publishing Spyborgs and Bionic Games developing it.
Same with Dark Chronicles and Cavia.

You say tomato, I say tomato

"¡Viva la Ñ!"

a bit off-topic but i think games like time crisis (arcade style) would be sweet on the wii.

Conversly it doesn't mean they actually are. Infact all it means, judging by what we see, is that they are spending lots of time making PS360 titles in house and sending all Wii versions to a cheapo dev. down the street. They have got games on the Wii right? So theoretically every single Wii game announced only pushes further back the hope that a better game will come.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
