Forums - Gaming - Activision trademarks "Sing Hero"

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/961/961336p1.html

"Sony's Singstar could have a potential rival, with Activision recently placing a trademark on 'Sing Hero', a title that suggests the Guitar Hero publisher is considering an entry into the lucrative karaoke market.

A recent entry on the United States Patent and Trademark Office's site reveals that Activision has filed an application for 'Sing Hero' – a name that implies a standalone karaoke entry into the rapidly expanding 'Hero' series.

Activision is known to be priming its Hero series for five new entries this year alone –.The publisher is currently unavailable to comment on how 'Sing Hero' could fit into these plans."

Ooooookaaayyyy... More karaoke games, how the hell can all these games keep coexisting?! There is not that much difference between them all

What a horrible title, though I can't think of much better myself. Since Guitar is a noun while Sing is a verb it just doesn't seem right to me. Karaoke Hero or Microphone Hero would be more fitting.

Oh, Activision! You big silly!

I'm personally waiting for My First Recorder Hero!

singstar > sing hero

Sing Hero- awful, awful name. Karaoke Hero would have been much better.

I'm starting to tire of this milking. I'm starting to feel I made the wrong choice going down the Guitar Hero route (as opposed to RB), because Harmonix are taking their time to work on Rock Band 3, make it fresh and innovate (possibly adding keyboards) whilst GH5 will be out this year adding very little new, no doubt. I mean, why couldn't they have released GH:Greatest Hits this christmas and taken another year out to innovate with GH5 like RB3? Makes me tired of the series tbh. I was never an 'update-per-year' sort of guy. One Gran Turismo does me for 3 years. And now we're going to get inundated with spin-offs like DJ Hero and Sing Hero....meh.

Isn't Lips already Singstar's "rival'? This is a pure cash grab, one which they can't even come up with a good name for. Activision will kill the Guitar Hero brand even further my saturating the market with all of these spin-offs, not to mention the plethora of GH games they have planned. Hopefully Rock Band doesn't get dragged down with it because it is the superior series at the moment.
