Final Fantasy I. I remember walking down a dark quiet hallway then all of a sudden zombie dogs jump through the windows and start chasing me. That was the first and last time a game/movie made me genuinely afraid.

lmao you mean Resident Evil?

Haha, yea. Sorry.

Its ok we know he just had Final Fantasy on his mind at the time lol.

Kinda reminded me of your profile pic of the Professor when you confused the games. I just imagined him saying it and it made me laugh :P

I was debating between Final Fantasy VIII, Legend of Dragoon, and RE1. Resident Evil obviously won, but LOD and FFVIII were close too.

Good news Everyone!

I've invented a device which makes you read this in your head, in my voice!

I was impressed by several games on the Nes (Castlevania III, Bionic Commando), but when I got my hands on F-Zero for the SNES, I was blown away.

Super Mario 64.

I could...

Guys, I could climb the trees. And swim in whatever direction I wanted.

And if I climbed to the top of a tree and tilted the stick forward I'd do a handstand and do a totally cool flip off of it!

lol I was right :D

All three are grear choices by the way but FF7 a little bit more for me. It was my first RPG and I was young. If not for my stepbrother playing this game and me watching, I might have never tried an RPG till I was way older. It made me by so many previous FF games and RPGs period.

Most fun was Goldeneye and Super Mario Bros.

But games that first engrossed me were Future Cop: LAPD, Legend of Zelda: Orcarina of Time and Perfect Dark.

Same here. Hands down I could play this game non-stop for a month and still be amazed! No other platformer ever live up to my Mario 64 expectations during the PS1/N64 era. But Banjo/Crash/Spyro games were still awesome!

Pong or Duke Nukem3D or Quake II or Sim City2 or KKND2 or C&C Red Alert or Earthworm Jim or The Hive or .... to be honest I can't remember.

Hindsight is a difficult thing. I've been impressed with lots of games over the years, but two very different games stand out as being the ones that sucked me entirely in to their universe. Right in.

Both have a lot of attention to detail and background and something oddly compelling that keeps drawing me back. Both seriously instilled a sense of wonder.

Eternal Darkness (GC) and Endless Ocean (Wii).

Like I said. Very different.

Okami is a close third.

MGS While my gf was blowing my mind!

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Doom was the first, but it was Wolfenstein 3D that hooks me up for FPS games
C&C Red Alert for RTS games
Crusader: No Remorse for Action games

I see much Star Fox and Wing Commander love in this thread. Any Descent fans here?
