Forums - Nintendo - Famitsu: The next Resident Evil Wii is.....

If it contains as much story as RE:UC I'm happy, it's just a shame that Capcom doesn't seem to notice that RE4 Wii controls are amazing and that it wouldn't hurt bringing a *normal* RE game to Wii. RE2 Remake with CC controls would make me insanely happy already.

So I really want a full RE game next to this Dark Side Chronicles. Will definitely buy it though.

I know. Capcom changed it into a rail shooter because of development costs. So what? They put their soul and effort into it and made a Solid Quality Game.

A smaller budget does not necessarily mean anything at all.
It's all about the creative process and the experience of the individuals within the development team.
"Rare" was a company that used to be great. A few years ago some of the best individuals left the company. Now look at Rare and their big budget games.

Umbrella Chronicles is great. It got good review scores. It sold 1.26m copies. Most of the Resident Evil 4 fans new to the franchise haven't even played it. The game is good. Highly recommended.

Dark Side Chronicles will probably be similar/just as good as Umbrella Chronicles. It's all great.

i dont want another on rails shooter
nor another port
i want that early RE4 version which was never completed kind of new game

Improvements are caused by people who complain :D

That's a good line. You should throw that in your sig.

It sounds like a very good rail shooter. I'll just put it in this pile of other good rail shooters for the Wii over here.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

I still don't get this whole "cash in" angle.
Is it a cash in because it will recount story events from existing games in the series? Because then REmake was just as cheap cash in.

Is it a cash in because it's a rail shooter? Because then RE:UC was a cheap cash in and that game rocked.

Or is it a cash in because Railshooters are so short? Because Umbrella Chronicles had hours and hours of gameplay.

Is it a cash in because it isn't RE 5? The game that was announced for PS3 and 360 long before the Revolution had even been unveiled? Because that's just silly.

I'd just like someone to explain to me how a sequel to a very successful and fun game that had lots of effort and polish is going to be a cheap cash in.

The producer of RE:UC admitted that Capcom changed the game from a tradition RE title to light gun game to save development time and costs. That is where the cheap cash in angle  comes in. It's ridiculous for them to screw the Wii userbase again. RE4 sold more than RE:UC. You think they'd come up with a traditional RE experience for Wii fans, but no they are just churning out another rail shooter. Well, I'm not buying it. I'm not buying Dead Space either. Capcom can shoehorn Dead Rising onto the RE4 engine but they can't even do the same with a new RE game. I want an actual RE game with Wii controls. Playing RE5 after playing RE4 Wii edition is huge step backwards.

@Star Scream

Wait did you say, developed by Cavia? Cavia of Bullet Witch fame? Oh this just gets better and better. Why don't they just rename the game Resident Evil FU Wii Owners Edition.

Um.. no? They said they changed the game to a light gun shooter because a RE4-like game would be too complicated for Wii owners (i know, even dumber reason )

@Darc

Still, i think i read that somewhere back in the day.

Edit: Found it! From Wikipedia:

"The game was initially going to play similarly to Resident Evil 4. However, in an interview with Famitsu, the game's producer Masachika Kawata revealed the reason for the drastic change in gameplay. According to him, "Wii users like easiness" and that a Resident Evil 4-style game is "too complicated" for Wii users to enjoy. Masachika Kawata then elaborated that "complex operability can be an obstacle for Wii users", and that he purposefully had to "compromise to a lower difficulty level" and "reduce enthusiast-only elements"
