oh man lewis.
The worst, though it didn't happen to me but a friend I emt'd with, was that he was on the job at 2 am driving speedily toward a call when a pickup blew completely through a red light and got t-boned by the ambulance.
The driver, my friend, was knocked unconscious for several seconds and woke up covered in blood. The driver of the other car was instantly killed and torn to shreds by the ambulance. The pickup then caught fire and my friend tried as hard as he could to unbuckle the seatbelt, hands soaked in blood.
He was trying so hard to unbuckle it that he kept fumbling with it. No matter how hard he tried he couldn't get it off. He was trying so hard, because the passenger of the truck, a woman, was a ball of fire staring at him screaming HELP MEEEE and crying out for her mommy. He watched as she roasted in front of him, screaming, their eyes locked until her pupils melted away.
He told this to me, while sobbing, on my one month anniversary on the job. I quit that day.
