People are getting the wrong end of the stick here. The advert warns about the increased risk of fatal diseases caused by an unhealthy lifestyle heavy in fatty foods.

But this gets ignored because the kid is [allegedly] holding a Dualshock 3 and OMG SONY SHOULD SUE SOMEONE'S PANTS OFF FOR TELLING EVERYBODY THAT GAMING KILLS.

If he was stuffing himself with burgers, should McDonald's sue?

What do games have to do with getting fat? Nothing.

What do burgers have to do with getting fat? Alot.

If he was holding a big mac box, then yes mcdonalds would probably sue their pants off. However mcdonalds makes you fat, sony and the PS3 does not.

What does the text in the advert have to do with this? Everything.

What does the image of the child have to do with this? Everything. It's a child doing the sort of thing that children do.

EDIT: also, that's not an official Sony PS3 controller anyway. There's no cord or USB socket. Hence my allusion to McDonalds with just a burger. People love to jump to conclusions and make connections where there is only a tenuous link.

You do know the PS3 has wireless controllers right?Furthermore, its not big enough to see if the front has the mini USB port. Also like I said, its a form of the dualshock. Sony owns the dualshock.

My first post in this thread clearly shows a semicircular bulge at the top of the controller where you would expect to see a micro USB socket or a [plugged in USB] cable. In the same post I linked to a gallery of images showing the controller it is most likely to be, with the semicircular bulge being most prominent. Do not take me for a fool.

And to adress your other point, I know it's a form of Dualshock, but Sony can't really claim for this. Game controllers are used in things like this all the time, sometimes even using actual first-party controllers.

Once again, this is a lot of fuss about nothing.

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

it's true, i played a game once, and now i'm dead

gnac - the difference between your analogy is that there are studies shown with weight gain and mcdonald's so no... mcdonald's couldnt sue. however thiere is no correlation between death and video games

True, but note that I have only mentioned McDonalds to illustrate that people will make the connection between that and a plain old burger. It's just as unfair to pin the blame for obesity squarely on McDonald's as it is fanciful to assume that Sony has a case for damages.

There's another opportunity for outrage doing the rounds on UK TV right now. During advert breaks, there is a public information broadcast which encourages people to save energy and reduce CO2 emissions by switching things off when not in use. This ad prominently features an actual XBOX 360 controller. So where is all the outrage about the 360 being portrayed as an energy hog and a polluter? Where is the official statement from Microsoft to protest the use of their product in a negative context?

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

I dont think playing videogames makes you fat i think being fat makes you play videogames...

PLAYSTATION®3 is the future.....NOW.......B_E_L_I_E_V_E

Consoles owned: Game Cube, Gameboy Color, Gameboy Advance, Nintendo DS, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3.

My prediction: NATAL WILL NOT help 360 sales. Maybe a 50-100k boost week 1, then a 30-70 k boost week 2, and back to the norm again after 3-5 weeks.

The Playstation controller is still iconic in the UK, it's more recognisable then the 360 controller. There was once a time when people would say you played on your 'Playstation' (meaning gaming whatever console it was) and your 'Nintendo' (aka handheld).

Hmm, pie.
