The thing about duplicate silver accounts is why would anyone bother?

The only reason that I can think of for duplicate accounts on Xbox would be to get the 5 months of Live free.

I still have like 3-4 accounts on my 360 from using that.

I also have like 3 accounts on the PS3 as well.

Yes. Plus there's a lot of dupe accounts thanks to stupid things like the North American Killzone 2 demo debacle and this situation where OutRun Online Arcade is to be released only on the European PSN. Plus forum members are counted, and this undoubtedly includes thousands of people who just went to troll Killzone 2. So I think PSN numbers don't really mean the same thing as Xbox Live numbers at all.

It is one account per user not console.

 

I don't trust Sony either... they launched HOME and are trying to make a brand out of PSN all of a sudden...

They want their partners to think that it as a bigger value than XBL. I understand the reaction of MS folks.

At least, XBL has a financial model from the start (with the MS point/money and gold subscriptions) while PSN is more about potential than long term results...

 

Thx.  Numbers seem okay then.  Unless they aren't interested in demos, etc. almost every console owner is likely to have a PSN/Live account with some households having multiple accounts on one console.  PSN will have PSP and forum accounts also.

I don't understand why the guy couldn't just say what he seems to be really thinking - Live for 360 has more active, online game playing accounts than PS3 only PSN accounts.

Make a new gamertag using a new e-mail address.

You can do this up to 5 times for 1 free month of Gold each time. Only thing is that you can't keep your gamerscore.

 

When people bring up the whole "Multiple accounts on PS3" arguments they tend to completely ignore this on the 360 side of things.

I can still do this 2 or 3 more times and I tend to use them when there isn't much to do for a month in terms of new releases. I just fire up a new account and get to use my Netflix account for a month on the 360.

Not everyone deletes these new accounts either, this is why mine has 3-4 accounts on it at the moment.
