Forums - Sony - If Sony is going to do A price drop it should be during Q4 2009

I was thinking whether or not  If Sony ever decided to do a Price drop around the time FFXIII releases in Japan can they cut the Xbox 360 lead but a couple Million?

Thoughts?

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I agree that the 4th quarter would be the best time to drop the price because it would force MS to react quickly. Unfortunately, Sony may not be able to wait until the forth quarter. I am beginning to think we will see 2 $50 drops this year. One in April and the other in September.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

That's exactly what I keep telling people.

Battlefield Bad Company 2 > Modern Warfare 2

Q4 is too late. Especially for Japan. Between ACC bundle and FFXIII there are no major releases on PS3 in the region. There is no point in sacrificing sales of 6 months period just to get a bigger boost on the XIII's launch week.

PS3 needs a price drop in Japan right now.

sony needs to increase the price by $100, more profit =)

Umm... To be it would seem more like the Wii needs a cut in Japan right now. The PS3 hasn't been doing too bad and this week (yeah, I must admit it, it had a big release, but still) it beat them all. Anyway, it's been doing pretty well actually. Well, don't know well but at least not too bad. Worldwide sales aren't that bad either, but could definitely be better. I'm not sure if Sony really thinks they must cut the price with these sales, especially considering they're still losing money. All in all, I don't think Sony wants to cut the price now but it would do good for the sales (more in the west, that is) if they can afford it.

I think sony should wait until Q4 because they already said GT5 would be releasing before christmas. Between that and FF13, sony would dominate for quite some time

Currently own:

  • Ps4

Currently playing: Witcher 3, Walking Dead S1/2, GTA5, Dying Light, Tomb Raider Remaster, MGS Ground Zeros

I don't think MS will respond with a price cut as soon as people think.

I think it should be two drops.. both $50.. but i don't think that will happen..

a price cut in japan is needed , when ? NOW
yakuza , biohazard and wkc
if not then wait till ff
no price cut everywhere else though
