Forums - Sales Discussion - Blu Ray sales EXPLODE ! in japan ! wuh !Blu-ray adoption is growing quickly

How many households need to buy a DVD player in 2008/2009? Of course BD is going to increase in that category. This is a non-story post.

Software > hardware when it comes to which format is doing well and which isn't.

It's inevitable, when BR is at the same price as DVD (should happen in the 2 years or so) only idiots and grannies will buy DVD instead of BR when they are changing/upgrading their player.

PSN ID: T_Gears

End of 2009 ltd sales:

Wii = 67-68m

X360 = 38-39m

PS3 = 34-35m

Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).

During holy days blu ray, for a period accounted for 17 percent of all software sales. If that's not enough to tell you that blu ray is rising then i dunno what is.

@StanGable. Don't hate just because you don't have one yourself.

Check out my game about moles ^

I blame the robust Japanese porn industry.

^^I suppose HD porn on your 52 incher is the way forward in Japan.

Blu-ray movie prices are falling quickly. Still...

Is the process of manuafacturing a blu-ray disc so much more expensive than a dvd to justify the big difference in cost or are we being conned?

Why use statistics about recorders of all things?

Not that I doubt Blu-Ray is increasing, but to use statistics about recorders makes me think the other metrics are less impressive.

MD was a very popular format in Japan...

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

you can still color me skeptical about the long term viability of the platform.

Anyone know how Blu-Ray is doing in Poland or Belgium?
