Several things must be said

God of War is not a game for everyone. I certainly have no interest in the franchise. I like my games to provide me with many hours of entertainment, have a well written plot, be good to play with friends and challenge both my brain and my gaming abilities. I am sure it is a good game within its genre, but it is not a universally loved genre. Understanding this will help you understand my later points.

To consider Halo, MGS and GTA as the three franchises that exemplify 'great' only heightens the difference between you and I as gamers, and further convinces me that I would not be interested in GoW

The sales of the GoW franchise are low not because of when they were released (and infact they were released at a very good time for PS2 software, certainly better than GTA3, GT3 or any of the other best selling PS2 games) but because the series lacks universal appeal.

So to answer you question, I believe you will be dissapointed b the sales of GoW3 when it releases, but you will not care too much because you will be enjoying the game

As you may all know im an avid Xbox 360 fan but God of War 3 is a game I have been waiting patiently for a looong time! I have played both installments on the ps2 and loved it have been playing through to it to get the juices flowing for the Gow3 release. Both God of War and God of War 2 on the Ps2 were games simply ahead of it's time, a game that just oozes perfection and the graphics that tested the Playstation 2, Hailed By Ign as the greatest Ps2 game which in itself is quite an achievement considering the library of the Playstation2.

Now the thought of God of War 3 hitting the playstation 3 with High Definition graphics has got me shaken in my boots, Sony Santa Monica managed to peform wonders with the ps2, just imagine what they can do with the ps3. This is one of those games that every gamer needs to experience whether your a wii or 360 owner, you owe it to yourself to play this game when it comes out. Although im wonderng when this game will be released some have said 2009 or 2010, I dont I can wait until 2010. But there are more than enough calibre games to keep me busy until Gow3 comes through my mailbox.

I want to ask you why has the God of war franchise sold so modestly, it has sold well but should sell much better. Its a franchise up their with the greatest e.g. Halo, MGS, GTA, etc. Yet these games sell very well but this has not happened to the God of war series which is frustrating as a gamer. I think the problem might have been the fact that both God of war games were released too late in the ps2's lifecycle.

Do you think God of war 3 sales will match it's potential?

I agree that god of war isn't a game for everyone, but GoW contains many of the qualities you look for in a game. It has a very well written plot, with the amount of unlockables you can have many hours of gameplay in GoW. It's not a game that you can play with your friends because it's obviously only 1 player, but it definitely challenges your gaming ability (especially in God mode, and the challenges of the Gods/Titans) and God of War is known for having many different puzzles in the game that can be challenging to figure out.

So I don't really understand why you don't like the game if it meets pretty well all your qualities for a good game?

@Michael-Moore, I think the sales for God of War II is incomplete, I heard it passed GoW I,  but I could be wrong.
