I just rented this myself, and I agree.....its really fun. Its not a perfect game by any means, but people keep trying to make it seem like a shovelware title, and it is not.

Yeah that would be really discouraging to me as a developer if I kept hearing that when there was work and effort put into Dead Rising, it's just obvious they didn't have the time to polish as well as it could have been, deadlines and limited budgets do that.

sad thing is that 90% of the people on here have not played it at all or have no intention of touching a wiimote, so they should seriously stop being assholes.  The majority of scores are the 65-80 range aside from G4 and a few others:

so it can't be in the league of Dogz like some are insinuating.

If people have an excuse to troll they will cause they like to bring down others, it's dumb but true, it's like *yuck yuck yuck* look at that Wii game it looks horrible it's so bad unlike Lair, Haze, and anything Rare has made in the past 8 years... oh wait... >_> seriously not all games live up to what people initially think but doesn't mean they're terrible and nothing to bring down others for especially if you have never played it or intentions to play it.

Also, Capcom admitted they got caught with their pants down with the Wii's success. Z&W doesn't really push the system, nor does RE:UC.

I say this is when they start to get serious with the Wii. Next game they push with will work better, and so will the next game.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Oh, and I'd buy G4's reason for being the lowest, but that list of how their recent (repeat RECENT) Wii reviews are often significantly lower compared to other reviews when it comes to the Wii hurts the credibility of it.

I really don't see why you are happy to accept short development cycles and limited budgets and you definitely shouldn't want to encourage it. Any developer should be aware they'll need to make a real effort to earn your money, not just some effort.

We don't encourage it. Economics does. Capcom lost a lot of money in the middle of the 6th gen for spending too much on games. They were not about to blow a bunch of money here, although they did delay the game over three months, so they weren't being as cheap as many of you think.

Could this game look better? Yes, but to get it looking its best would take well over another year, and throwing out at least one build, hence raising the budget to a ridiculous amount for a game already made (even if the gameplay and missions are redone).

Taking the budgets they spend on HD games into account your argument really makes no sense. Capcom is still spending a lot of money on game development, just not on Wii games. And yes, you are encouraging it by buying these type of games. If developers know they will only get good sales when giving it a serious effort they're only left with 2 options: don't develop a game or do it well. And I rather get less games if that also means they're quality efforts, unlike most games out there right now.

"Taking the budgets they spend on HD games into account your argument really makes no sense."

I did not do that. Where in that comment did I mention HD games?

"And yes, you are encouraging it by buying these type of games."

No, because they wouldn't have spent more money anyway. This isn't going to encourage Capcom to skimp money on the Wii. This just means that Capcom didn't feel they had the time and money to spare for this, and the fact that their profits were so low last year just proved them right.

They didn't spend much on this because they ''couldn't''. They didn't have the funds to spare, and it's a waste for ports anyway (or semi-ports in this case). This wasn't a choice to skimp on the Wii. A PS3 and PC port would have cost even less.

You misunderstood me there. You were claiming economics made it impossible for Capcom to spend more on games on Wii, so I pointed out they do have tons of money to spend on their HD offerings.

Like I said, I rather only have developers making good games or no games at all. So either a good Dead Rising Wii or none at all. In that case Capcom could have just saved the few bucks they spend on Dead Rising Wii. And where did you get the idea that it would be cheaper to port to the PS3? You are aware they have a very different architecture?

Didn't read it because RE4 was said six times. I don't wanna read a comparsion.

Pixel Art can be fun.
