Forums - Sales - Yakuza 3/Killzone 2 The Beginning of Playstation 3’s Global Numbers Reign?

This article sounds very similar to what they would post on hiphopgamershow.

Anyway guess what the Wii beat the PS3 by a huge margin for the week ending 28/2. Wii sold 340k versus PS3 ~ 200k. (PS3 actually sold 199,700 units but I am being generous)

PS3 won Japan region only over Wii where it does not really matter. Japan region makes not much difference in the large scale of things.

Some people would say that PS3 only selling ~ 200k for the week with its two of its biggest games released in 2009 (Killzone 2/Yakuza 3) as disappointing sales for PS3.

MGS 4 launch PS3 sold over 350k console worldwide in one week - now that is successful sales week. PS3 outsold Wii for one week due to MGS 4 launch

one thing though, i wonder why Japan doesn't matter especially since Japan has been the region that for the past twenty years has made the best console games. Really, if the majority of Japanese developers were to decide to solidly get behind the PS3 even if only in the hd console wars, then the PS3 could very easily make up half the distance between itself and the 360 in 2009 alone. And as White Knight Chronicles and Yakuza 3 show, Square would have sold twice the number of copies of Star Ocean 4 that they have if they had put it on the PS3 instead of the 360.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

The author jumped the gun.

Only thing that is impressive so far is that the PS3 managed to increase in sales worldwide simultaneously despite declining hardware sales all across the charts.

games wise sony can easily dominate but sales wise they wont be able to do shit until a price cut. thats when the real party starts for sony.

Alright, can we seriously stop doing this. Everytime the ps3 has one or two games that are selling really good, we always assume that the ps3 will rise or have some reign. Just stop it and just be happy that Killzone 2 sold pretty well first week and that Yakuza 3 did the same that. Lets not overthink things.

He was kind of right about Nintendo's weak lineup for the next 2 months, but the rest of his assertion was bogus.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Lol @ articles claiming PS3 will win console wars due to a small weekly sales victory. If we allowed for error rates PS3 = X360 sales for week ending 28/2 Based on 5% error rates on hardware VGChartz tells us in its methodology.

PS3 sales were disappointing two of the best games of PS3 for 2009 needed to beat X360 by a mere 12k for a week. It is actually sad.

Yakuza 3 and killzone 2 combined for 1 million sales in first week and boost the PS3 from 155k to 200k for one week. 30% increase in PS3 sales on previous week.

Back to normal sales of 150 to 160k units for PS3 within a couple of weeks after RE5 boost which will actually sell more X360s in NA region and X360>PS3 for RE5 launch week.

"RE5 will help sell more X360s than PS3s. RE5 on X360 will outsell RE5 on PS3 worldwide sales ltd". Quote me here people

Maybe... in Japan PS3 will outsell Wii and X360.

This month has got Yakuza 3 and RE5, both with bundles...

Soon they will have Final Fantasy VII Advent Children + FFXIII demo, you know and I think they will sell a bundle with it.

In EU maybe could outsell X360 this month but in NA is too difficult.

::Looks at bold and eyes water::

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!OMFG!!!

I was talking about this month ...

::Wipes away tears::

Well....Japan is rather slow right now, but I think next week it'll pick up for the Wii. With the launch of House of the Dead:Overkill...it don't see it beating the Wii next week.

With the launch of Resident Evil 5, I don't see the Wii beating the PS3 this week.

Hmmm, on rails shooter versus massive Japanese survival horror game.

RE5 wont have earth shattering sales. RE5 is not a system seller by any stretch of the imagination.

sure can't wait for you to be proven wrong

a bet?

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

Japan happens to offset US sales (to the PS3 side of things...)US is, obviously, the bigest gaming market in the world, to the X360, but Japan sales, tending to PS3 side, will make Sony looks less weak each monthly results...Anyone who says only NPD numbers matter is either a pathetic self-centered fanboy or plain stupid...

ON topic:
Hardly...PS3 really needs a price cut that may do nice things on its numbers, but not resolve its problems at all, or hurt even more on the long run. At the least I can use the argument X360 fanboys were using last year: the games are on PS3 now, quality and numbers wise. Now, only price problems remains to work on it, and as I said, it may hurt them in the end.
