With the current thread about Capcom making Wii owners "very happy, very soon" comments, it just got me thinking about how many times you as a gamer have been tricked into thinking something awesome is coming and it turns out to be another POS unoriginal game. I put this in the gaming section simply because people can be disappointed across all platforms, unfortunately all my disappointments lye with Nintendo systems.

Disappointments:

Capcoms big announcement of a game that is being ported from the 360. Turns out to be Dead Rising. At this point I dont have a 360 and am super psyched for this. Then I find out more details, see screenshots, and I always had thought Capcom could do no wrong. Now I own a 360 and a copy of Dead Rising I picked up for 15 dollars.

Resident Evil 4 and RE:UC both sell over 1 million, RE:5 announced with nothing for Wii in mind. Granted now they are talking about something that will please us, and apparently by reading on the forums all it takes is a remake or another on rails shooter to do so. The only remake I would enjoy is RE2 and it better be a damn good remake and not a rushed shit port.

Nintendo's E3. This in part is IGN's fault. They talked this up to be the most badassery event for Nintendo since sliced bread came about. I woke up and sat at my computer and listened to the entire thing. Wow, that's all I could say. 360 gets an announcement that FFXIII is coming their way, Nintendo gets...? Oh ya, Wii fit sales, Shaun White on stage, Wii Music, and an overshadowed announcement of Pikmin 3.

No Street Fighter IV for the Wii. Again, IGN's fault. Jumped on the home page and they posted a trailer for the game on the Wii's page (before the game had any consoles attached to it), no SFIV for Wii. no no.

There are more I'm sure, which is why I created this thread. Reading through I realize that I sound really really bitter. Which I kinda was at the time, but I decided to go out and buy a 360, now I can enjoy both worlds. But I'm still a Nintendo guy and I have always felt like I've been shit on with Every console I've owned aside from the NES (which I was too young to really appreciate).

I have yet to experience any real disappointments or letdowns with the 360 yet, I just got it months ago. But I'm sure there are people out there, especially PS3 only owners, I'd be pissed that 360 is snagging exclusivity rights from games and getting exclusives that PS3 owners don't get to see.

So please, I feel this is simple enough to take some time and share how you have been let down in the past by the gaming industry or how you have been built up to insurmountable levels of expectation to only be shot down to the ground you stand on.

the only game that the 360 that I want is Splinter Cell: Conviction. but who knows when that will come out?...and it's gonna be on PC.

I guess most of the disappointments you felt were from misinformed (IGN) journalists.

Only one I feel is from devs who put munniez before everything else and on the long run make worrying decisions.

Most of my disappointments come from people on this site. There are far too many groups trying to make this or that game the greatest thing in the history of the universe. It probably stems from my own issues with not believing that someone's favorite anything can be known to them without a legitimate amount of time passing and looking back on it. My favorite game is WCW/NWO Revenge, and it took over a thousand hours of playing it with friends and over 5 years for me to realize it. It didn't just hit me immediately the moment I sat down with it and none of my favorite things have ever just hit me. They've always slowly lodged themselves into my lives and won't let go for a long time. It took me about 10 years and a couple hundred viewings to realize Ghostbusters was my favorite movie. It took me about 2 years of practically listening to nothing else other than one CD over and over to realize The Black Keys "Rubber Factory" was my favorite album. What I see with other people is they go and see a movie, or just buy a game and proclaim their undying love for it instantly and I just don't get it. Maybe that's my own problem though.

Uh, RE:UC is a good game. Just because you don't ike on rails shooters doesn't mean we can't
RE:5 hasn't come to the Wii because development started well before it was discovered the Wii would sell well remember analysts were predicting end of life hardware sales of 15 million.

Nintendo currently holds the record for the two best E3 shows ever. The best ever was Ninty 2006, where the Wii was announced and gaming was revolutionised. The 2nd best ever was the Ninty 2008 show when Wii Motion + was announced and the market revolutionised again

WCW/NWO Revenge was fun.

Well a lot of people were let down by the sales of Killzone 2 not matching the hype, although it still sold ok in it's own right.

I was let down by the quality of Too Human. It just looked so great back when it was first announced.

I don't dislike on rail shooters. I own RE: UC and I bought HoTD: Overkill. I love those games. What I'm saying is that they are proven sellers on the Wii and then Capcom turned around and ignored the Wii when the new RE was announced. I just didnt see the logic in that. Yes IGN has hyped me up numerous occasions. But who are we to turn to? I don't have industry insiders, if IGN says that Nintendo's E3 is gonna be bad ass or a new Kid Icarus game is coming...why am I to distrust them? It's their job.
