Forums - Gaming Discussion - PS Home = WOW. Sony is upping the ante.

I think it actually appeals to a different audience than Xbox Live.

no inbetween, huh? why? it might be cool but not offer all the features it needs at first.

Sony needs to fix what they have before they add new features. Still no unified friends list, custom sound tracks, PC streaming or in-game messages.
A lot of things combined could smash halo 3, including halo 3 sucking. I'm sure if Home is successful Microsoft will just code their own overnight for all those paying Live customers...right...cause copying what someone else does gets a lot of praise nowadays. Not to mention the time it would take. You don't think it would be easier to add a unified friends list, in-game messages, custom sound tracks (which ridge racer for ps3 already has), and pc streaming? You realize the PS3 can run linux, right? PC streaming is just a network feature...

I think a lot of people are forgetting that Xbox Live is the Soul of the Xbox. It's what stood the 360 apart from the other two. PS3 could possibly have something that trumps Xbox Live. Imagine if everything Xbox Live offers is given for Free on the PS3 but on top of that it's a Virtual world.... AND Xbox Live cost $50/year. Will PS Home content (like furniture) cost real money?? Yes, I guarantee it. Xbox Live users pay $5 just to have pictures of Pinata's on there backgrounds, you can bet that people will $5 for a set of furniture. Also this is for everyone who has skepticism about Home - It's online, it's upgradeable, just like Live was updated month after month till it's what it is today.

Not bad Sony, not bad but good luck moderating it. As Live has shown, the raunchiest of us will make the most use of it.

Put nicely, Halo 2 IMO sucked. And I am a gigantic Halo fan. I used to play Halo all day every day. Halo 2 had to be one of the worst sequels of all time IMO. I remember standing in line and seeing all the different types of people and I was like, "these are halo fans?" I played Halo in tournaments all the time and hung out with lots of Halo 1 fans. But standing in that line I knew the shine was off, we had a bunch of ghetto thugs playing now and I thought for sure someone was gonna get jacked for something. Which is what made online so terrible, you had people that just wanted to be jack offs. It's entirely possible Halo 3 could suck balls. Just because a game has great graphics or was great before doesn't mean it will continue to do so. Halo 2 did a lot of things wrong and lost me as a fan, they have to win me back now. They easily made the crappiest story line I've ever seen (yes, you do still have to make a single player game, we don't all play online all day Bungie) and hamstrung 2 of the most fun weapons in the game, the pistol and sniper rifle. They insisted the pistol was too powerful with the zoom in MP, hello? We all played halo one on 16 player hubs with pistols and there was nothing wrong with it.

I have met a "few" people who loved Halo 1 but hated halo 2. What makes halo 2 so bad in your eyes? Story, gameplay, balance or all the above?

Exactly, Stromprophet. I know a lot of people that had a problem with Halo 2 that loved Halo 1. Also, many look at Halo 3 screens and notice it doesn't look that great. Did you like the addition of the blade?

The story line was so terrible I couldn't play it. The constant switching between the 2 main characters. It's fine to have 2 campaigns, but make it like COD2 where you play one campaign at a time. They totally cut the story up. Then they made the game out to be you resisting the invasion of the covenant, that's what it was always advertised. 2 levels! 2 levels on earth and that was it, and they were the funnest levels...which made the rest of the game really hard to play. Online was really good, but they didn't have any levels like Sidewinder, or Blood Gulch, Prisoner, the Multiplayer levels just weren't as good. The weapons balance was bad. I don't know what the devs were thinking with some of the weapons. The assualt rifle was nice with the zoom feature, though it was a woefully underpowered weapon, very hard to bring down elites shields using the zoom feature and capping them in the head. I used to kill on Legendary on Halo 1 playing by myself, they made some parts of Halo 2 so hard you almost couldn't beat it on Legendary. Then they removed the zoom from the pistol and I was like WTF. That was one of the best weapons for multiplayer because it made almost everyone competitive. Then they changed the human sniper rifle to carry less ammo and reload slower and fire slower. Also a big negative in my view. Nothing like playing blood gulch and capping someone with a sniper rifle from across the board 3 times in succession while their in the air. Hilarious.
