Forums - Gaming - Can any of 3 new consoles beat last gens consoles at Game Libary??

I don't see why not. It's silly to compare them now, only 2.5/3.5 years in, and try to make a judgement. Who knows what the future will bring. But I never really had a hardon for PS2 like most people.

"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy

I think the Wii will match or better the game library of the PS2 by generation's end.

This. The PS2 had a huge piece of the market and therefore a huge, exclusive library. Most likely the wii will pass it, depending on a strong 3rd party support. The quicker that picks up, the sooner the wii could beat the PS2. Looking at this year's releases it's picking up some serious steam. We'll see.

It is picking up some steam, but the Wii's 3rd party support is still lagging greatly behind the PS360's. While games like Call of Duty continue to sell better on PS3, when versions are made for both, the big blockbusters are going to keep on coming to PS360. The PS2 dominated pretty much every genre except for shooting and wRPGs, both of which the Xbox won. This gen, it certainly looks like the PS360 have shooting, jRPGs {no proper FF support for Wii}, Action adventure {asssassin's creed, Uncharted} and more tied up, so I don't the Wii is ever going to get into the situation where it has superior games in all genre's to its cometitors. Of course that is a different question to will it be better than PS2, but I still say no to that

Can Wii,PS3 or Xbox 360 match up with last gens consoles game Libary?

In my opinion no.

It would need to be really dramastic to win older gens..No, even all 3 new consoles combined wouldn't win.

Playstation 2 has the best libary with game series like:

Zone of the enders

Final Fantasy

God of War

Ratchet and Clank

Jak and Daxter

Shadow of the Colossus

ICO

Kingdom Hearts

Tekken

Dragon Quest

Soul Calibur

Metal Gear Solid

Singstar

Gran Turismo

Grand Theft Auto

Resident Evil

Okami

Tony Hawk

Guitar Hero

Devil May Cry

Viewtiful Joe

Dark Cloud

Disgaea series

Onimusha

It's sorta stupid to name off that list and say that's why last gen was better when over 75% of those series are part of this generation also. Here's how many titles on your list haven't seen a release this gen yet and there are currently no plans for them:

Onimusha, Dark Cloud, Kingdom Hearts and Zone of the Enders

And then there are some titles that are currently in the works and will be released within the next 12-24 months:

Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Tekken and a Team ICO game

Everything else has been released at least once.

Until companys stop making low-budget shooters for quick cash ins, then yes.

No system will ever beat the PS2's game library, because Sony had a near monopoly on third party. This is why Sony had such a great library. The only system with a chance of defeating the PS2's sales is the Wii.

@stephan, ROFL, your saying the Wii will pass the PS2's gaming library, when all 3rd party games flop on the Wii.

For my personal taste PS3 is well on the way to eclipsing the PS2. Not only has it already hit on the franchises that made PS2 the greatest console of all time, it has also introduced some awsome new franchises. At the end of the gen, PS3 will have more exclusive titles, because were 3rd party has fallen off, Sony has picked up the ball. Thanks to the SCEWWS initiative, the games that Sony is putting out are miles ahead of everything else on the market. When we look back at the PS3 3 years after the next generation, it will have the widest spread library of all time, and at a quality that was impossible to match in the old style of development.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. ps3 will get nowhere near the ps2's library. I don't know why people think that. Ps3 won't last as long as the ps2 and if you think they still will get the 10 years... It can't even sell good now, what makes you guys think it will sell better 5 years from now? Ps2 still gets games now, it's an amazing console because of the third party support.

The PS3 in the 10 years that it goes on will not reach the amount of great games produced on the PS2. As I said before, the PS2's success was all due to a great library of games which were 90% third party.
