nope. The 360 does have an awesome gaming library (especially in shooters. Halo 3 + Gears 1 and 2 is pretty incredible on their own) but it's not even close to the PS2. (except in shooters) I personally don't think that any console will ever surpass the awesomeness that is the PS2's gaming library because no console will ever be able to achieve a 3-1 advantage over the combined total of it's competitors. (for this to happen in the current generation, the Wii would have to sell an absolute minimum of 180 million units, probably much more; and that is not going to happen)

Also, the PS2 generation is likely to be the last gen where a significant fraction of the development community was willing to take a big risk with a new idea for a game. And this fact alone is enough to ensure that no console will ever beat the PS2.

It's all a matter of opinion.

I feel the PS2 had more games than any other system that met my tastes.
Others may feel different.

LOL. Your kidding me right? I know it's obvious I'm a PS Fanboy but honestly, what games can really compete with that of PS2's? Only thing 360 has advantage of is FPS. You can't honestly compete with ICO, Shadow of Collossus, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy XII, God of War I & II, Gran Turismo.

I'm not those PS Trolls, I consider Xbox 360 a really good console, it's just I'd rather pick PS3 over it.

The 360 isn't about to, but I think it will eventually, once developers (particularly JRPG ones) get a handle of HD.

I think this gen's consoles promised too much, and that's why we're getting JRPG's (among other genres) with so many technical issues (which weren't AS prevalent last gen).

Also, I would say that the 360's library at the end of Year 3 is arguably better than PS2's at the end of year 3 (God of War was 2 years away, Ratchet's best game so far came out a year later, Ico was there but no SoTC, RE4 was 2 more years away).

The only game I can think of that gives PS2 the edge over 360 by Year 3's end is Final Fantasy X, there are of course other games, but this is probably the 360's biggest problem, a lack of universally acclaimed JRPG's. Final Fantasy 13 may rectify this (assuming it's good).

In short: No, but the possibility of overtaking is there, but the PS2's library really went into AAA overdrive from 2003 onwards, I'm not sure the 360's (or any console this gen) will be able to do that.

No. 63 PS2 games with Metacritic scores of 90 or above on the PS2. Only 20 games on the 360 have Metacritic scores over 90. When one looks at all of the green rated games for these systems, the PS2 has 537 while the 360 has onl 223. To make things even worse for the 360, it is highest rated games all seem to be in one genre while the PS2's games come from many different genres. There are other game lineups that might worthy of being the best ever including the PS1, SNES, Genesis incluing Sega CD, the Japanese version of the PC Engine, the DS, all the Gameboys, and some would make compelling arguments in favor of Wii or PS3, but just leaving it between PS2 and the 360, the best assesment that can be made is that in its entire lifetime, the 360 will be lucky if its library is even able to be equal to the games that made up the PS2's library just in 2001 when Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy X, Jak and Dxter, Metal Gear Solid 2, Klonoa 2, Baldur's Gate, ICO, GTAIII, and many more were released,
