Also i can't wait to go into gamestop and find like 50 copies of Halo Wars used and seriously reduced in price.

Won't happen. Gamestop doesn't seriously reduce the prices of their used games.

If there is no demand for the game they usually slash the price quickly. I got Eternal Sonata half price new just a few months after it came out.

I bought Final Fantasy 1 thinking it was going to be a Final Fantasy. Boy was I dissapointed!

Lol.

Replace Final Fantasy with 'Super Mario Bros. 2' for me.

You thought Super Mario Bros. 2 was going to be a Final Fantasy?

Now there's a leap of logic.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I was in EB Games today to ask how much they would be selling MadWorld for and was waiting behind a lady. I noticed she was holding a copy of Halo Wars and asking to return it because it wasn't a shooting game like her son thought it was..

I'm not on either side of the fence but it's obvious at least in one case that the Halo name is really selling Halo Wars even if people are unaware that it's a different type of game to the previous Halo's in the franchise.

So my question is this: What other games in history may have also had this effect purely due to brand name?

Final Fantasy VII to Final Fantasy Tactics.  Both different but great games.  I'm sure Squaresoft intentionally released Final Fantasy Tactics after Final Fantasy VII to ride the coat tails of Final Fantasy VII.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

This happens sometimes when people do not do the research.

Numerous example types listed above.....here is another.

One of my buddies bought a new PS3 80g because he knew heard the 80 gigs were backwards compatible and he owned a gigantic library of PS2 games. Boy was he pissed when I told him that the "older" 80g PS3's, bundle editions, ect..... were BC not the newer ones.....:(

I told him just to plug in his PS2 also and he would be fine. He felt mislead by Sony and almost returned it. I talked him out of it because the PS3 is building a great library of games and it was worth the money.................

JUST LIKE HALO WARS.......IT'S WORTH EVERY PENNY....I LOVE IT!!!!

Yup, Halo definately has a shooter heritage. But Mario had a Platformer Heritage for the longest time, and was able to move away from just being a platformer to being Mario: Everything. I have no doubt Microsoft has similar plans for Halo. Halo Wars is the first, it's going to be a transition for some people, but eventually we'll see the glorious golden game.

HALO KART.

This video shows how much music affects our perception. You have guys in army vehicles shooting at each other but the music is so joyous that it makes it seem like they're just having some good ol' fun.

I see you forgot to mention Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.
