I started to read this thread, and in the end it's the same every year. Dev comes along states X console is pushed to it's limits, then following that game is blown out of the water by another game pushing it to it's limits.

Priceless.

So when NFS Shift shows up looking all Post processing KZ2 style, do we then say the Tekken 6 dev is bullshit? Oh then along comes Alan Wake and FF13 and yada yada yada.

YAWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Because it supported DVD. Last gen people who owned PS2's didn't have to worry about graphics because Sony had a monopoly on 3rd party. Really I admired the Sony owners fine arguments against the Xbox fanboys. This gen the roles are reversed.

Well there ya go. It was more powerful in some aspects wasn't it? It certainly had better looking games then the gamecube. Maybe its because devs were lazy.(like with this whole PS360 bullshit)

Nah, the thing is that the Gamecube had better graphics. It had a finished, glossy look to it that not even the PS2 could achieve.

Devs program for the lowest common denominator. Last gen and this gen, all the same.

Edit: What pissed me off last gen was devs laziness to make the Xbox version look any better. I remember getting PSO for Gamecube and the warp and spell effects looked awesome. The Xbox version came out and some of the effects were missing. It pissed me off so much I went back to the Gamecube version.

Xbox voice masking was awesome though. You can make your voice change to a female. Got lots of free loot. I think I even had phone sex with myself one time, cuz I sounded so hot. haha.

I'll understand if you say Dead or Alive you play more for graphics, compared to gameplay. It'll be hard to believe if you say you play Tekken for the graphics.

If there was an Xbox or Gamecube version, the graphics would have looked better on those consoles. Playstation fans shouldn't complain about 360 having worse graphics if it was flipped around last gen.

I didn't/don't play it for graphics, I'm just saying. You said "I didn't see PS2 owners complaining about their lower quality visuals"....but Tekken 5 didn't have "lower quality visuals" by any means

Right, and your not complaining. Graphics didn't matter.

 

Without taking things off topic, it wasn't that "The graphics weren't that great, but the gameplay is all that matters, so I'm not going to complain". It's that "the graphics were beautiful, so what's to complain about them?"

As it stands, with the issue you brought up, you're saying that PS2 games, or just Tekken, whichever had bad visuals, but no one complained because of good gameplay. All I'm saying is that, NO, the graphics weren't low quality so there was no need to complain about them
