We all know that Nintendo's Wii is an incredibly popular console amongst gamers and non gamers alike. What most of us don't know though is that the console is actually pretty popular amongst doctors. As it goes, there are a handful of doctors that are actually prescribing the Wii and Wii Sports for use in rehabilitation as well as regular exercise for the elderly. The benefit of this is low impact movement with the added bonus of a simulated action. So not only are users stimulating muscles, they are stimulating the brains. One story from a doctor at a reputable health firm stated that he prescribed Wii Bowling to an elderly woman to do once daily. In the beginning she could barely move her arm more than 45 degrees total. After 7 months she now has almost full range of motion in her shoulders and easily stands up and walks around with it. In some cases, senior centers are actually having Wii Sports competitions with other senior centers. Now here's the real kicker. You know how Wii's are so hard to find? Some of these larger health organizations are actually getting large quantities of Wii's dropped ship directly to them. In fact, one such company recently received 10,000 Wii's for distribution to all of their rehabilitation centers across the country. It's only because Nintendo pay doctors commision. Doctors get deals like that from companies all the time. Did you know there is no such thing as the common cold? Doctors just made it up and prescribe medication for it, they get commision and the drug companies get rich. That's why doctors are so well paid.

Doctors just made up 'the cold' and there is a 'league of doctors' getting paid my ass.

The reason why Doctors get paid so well is because it's generally highly specialised work that they do.

The american health system isn't in shambles because of Doctors, its that way because of the privatised health care system.

OK, this could get ugly, so I'm just going to say "I disagree".  The health care system is off topic, anyway.  And it's  possible Shambolic was being sarcastic.

Anyway, obviously this isn't really causing  shortages, though it is an interesting article.
