I am one of the people that think FFXIII will suck, just like FFX, FFXI, FFX2, and FFXII. THe last really good game Square made was FF9 on PS1 imo and I have played nearly every game they have ever released since NES days...

FFXIII looks just fine to me. Lets see how the developments go. Don't tell me you're one of those people who are suddenly turned off by the game now that it's multiplat. I'm still getting it on PS3.

Nope, I could not care less which systems games go to, but all of the Square games from PS2 days until now that I have played have sucked horribly...

I'll just quote myself from another thread:

Now to those people who scream "oooh SE you fail !!!".
They (SE) released the game (SO4) on the 360 for a reason. They knew it would not sell that many copies in Japan, but they surely received a bunch of money from Microsoft. Besides that the game engine was practically paid by MS. Never forget, MS published Infinite Undiscovery together with Square Enix.

The Last Remnant uses the Unreal 3 engine and SE had huge problems with porting the game to the PS3. However for a mediocre JRPG The Last Remnant sold great and you can't deny that. Even Infinite Undiscovery made a nice profit.

What now? You actually think IU actually made money?

FFX was good other then the gay main character, FF12 was awful. FF13 can be great, though Versus looks more interesting with its darker feel.

SE has yet to reach the quality they had while being separate from Enix. Both were better alone.

Come on, do you people still believe that a JRPG, especially one that uses an already existing engine (i.e. The Last Remnant) that sells over 500k is a massive flop? JRPGs have never been a big genre. Anyone expecting huge sales from a genre like this needs to get a slap in the face. Now. (Unless the game has Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest in it's name.)

no my freind you dont get it

these are hard times for rpg fans , and putting these rpgs on one side of the market aint going to help the sales .

JRPG fans should buy the 360!

And sell their PS3s!! I'm very disappointed with the RPGs the PS3 has to offer. Not because they're bad, no, they're pretty good. It's the amount of games available on the PS3. Yesterday, I logged in on PSN for a total amount of five minutes. I picked up my copy of Valkyria, but then put it back on the shelf. I don't want to force myself playing the same RPG over and over again. I want more than one.

360, it got games; it has a nice amount of JRPGs. Star Ocean IV, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, Blue Dragon, Tales - all 360 exclusives. How many traditional JRPGs are there on the PS3? Maybe one right now, and it's multiplatform! I'll admit I made a huge mistake buying a PS3 expecting to see a plethora of JRPGs. If you want JRPGs, buy a 360 and DS. You won't regret it.

You didn't like Disgaea 3 and Folklore but you liked IU and Blue Dragon?

@ stage: is that DLC free? If not, invalid point imho.

800 MS points. Not much. You're looking for reasons. It's still apart of the game and if it exists you have to accept it. Otherwise you're just being ignorant. The extra storyline in ME comes in the newer platinum hits versions of the game I believe.

Looking for reasons? :-/

A game costs enough as it is, and if one game offers a main storyline of 30 hours, and another gives you 6 hours and then asks some more money to extend it to 30 hours in total, then it's an invalid point.  Especially since the you were quoting was talking the game you buy in the store, not the addons.

We won't argue quality since that's obviously a personal choice, but if the basic game gives you 6 hours for a main storyline, then that's short, simple as that.

Mass Effect costs $29.99 with the extras in it right now. Costs enough as it is? Thats a great price. Main storyline is more than 6 hours. The devs said it was 20-30 hours depending on how you play it. 40 hrs for the whole game. Now actually including the DLC thats nearly 50 hours (Whole game + DLC).

I said "If" when talking about the game's length since I haven't played the game, and am using your words and the ones you quoted.

About the price: yeah, that's how much it costs now, not at launch.  Buying at launch= 60 euros + DLC.  To get 30 hours (as you said it) only after paying an additional amount = not exactly good imho.

now it's apparently 20 - 30 - 50 hours.

All in all, an RPG offering a basic storyline of 6 to 10 hours (the premise on which I asked the question) is lacking in that department.  That's not "looking for reasons", that's just incredibly short for an RPG, no matter whether DLC extends that life.  Now that it is apparently 20 to 30 hours for the basic storyline, then I have no more questions, since that's normal for an RPG (although still on the short side for me).

Basic storyline is from 20-30 hours depending on the player according to devs (without completing the entire game with achievements). It took me about a month to beat that game (School and work and all), so I can't argue with the devs. The DLC is included into the value of hours in the game.

I did say the very few RPGs on the PS3, mainly Valkyria and Folklore are good. I got bored of Disgaea 3 very quick. IU and Blue Dragon are my next RPGs to try out after Lost Odyssey and Star Ocean are finished.

Three tanks on one system. They need to go multi-plat.

you guys are misunderstanding this.i own both a 360 and pS3 i could care less who sells more of the same game , but i do care about the total sales and the two multiplat games i have pointed out would have sold ALOT better if released together
