As you can see there is no better console this gen for JRPGs than the 360 unless your game is called pokemon.

Would have thought those two would have sold better.

 

On wii? Never....hell there prequels did not even do so hot on th GCN. Hardcore games don't usually break 500k on the Wii. Its a sad fact, but its true.

Hard times for JRPG fans? No hard time for fanboys. JRPG fans buy the consoles with JRPGs. Fanboys buy consoles without JRPGs and whine about not having any JRPGs to play. Then they proceed to hit up video game forums and troll posts for the JRPGs they can't play because they didn't bother to check the release lists before making their purchase. This isn't 2005. It's obvious where the JRPGs are going at this point. Either buy the hardware that can play it, or shut up about it and give the rest of us true JRPG fans some peace.

 

For fucks sake THANK YOU! You have a proper understanding of the problem. The people complaining about JRPG sales on the 360 mostly refuse to buy a 360 for the games.

Hmmm, also to undying:

I agree that the 360 has more JRPGs and if you add Fable, the balance will tip towards the 360 for a long time to come (unless FF XIII blows everything out of the water in Japan alone).

But if you want the best game out there in the JRPG (well, RPG genre allround), you should gun for a PS3 tbh.  Nothing so far in this generation on the HD consoles (don't know too much about the wii rpg's so won't comment on those) comes even close to Valkyria Chronicles tbh.

Lost Odyssey is the best JRPG this gen, hell its one of the best JRPGs ever. I'm sure VC is a good game (one of the only games i want on PS3), but its no LO.

I would like to point out that both of those games you bolded are NOT tracked in Europe, and have most likely passed 500k.

 




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Well, if you're taling about the RPG genre as a whole, you DEFINATELY need a 360. Many would agree that Mass Effect is the best one so far this gen.

 What you just said is fundamentally no different then "Killzone 2 is the best game ever" or "tales of vesperia is the best Jrpg ever."

To me and many others, Tales of vesperia destroys, incinerates, and spreads the ashes of Valkyria Chronicles into the gehenna of gaming. Its called 'opinion'. VC has got nothing on ToV, and never has. Tbh :P

What are you talking about? Way to late in the game? It's never too late to go Japan. The problem with the Japanese is they will not buy a product from an American that they can already get from a Japanese company (IE: Sony). Microsoft has fought for Japan to give them even a proper scale of vision and Japan turned full-time to Nintendo support. Japan is lagging this gen. FFXII will sell a little over 3.5 M LTD multiplatform. Wait and see how much versus will get being exclusive to the PS3. Nowhere near that. FFXII's numbers will give us a good idea of what Versus will give us.

FFXII will be nowhere near as epic as Mass Effect was. That game was a serious achievement. The top system for RPG's period is the 360. If you want top JRPG's alone then PS3. I have both systems, so really I know better than most of the fanboys.
