Forums - Sony - The Reason Why 360 Fanboys Might Think KZ2 Sales Don't Impress

theres no reason for me to eel insecure. Its about putting PS3 fanboys in their place.

Those very same fanboys you said came from sites outside of VGChartz.

What are you even doing here?

I have a feeling people are playing fast and loose here with the said "sales predictions" regarding Killzone 2. I saw a bunch of things both ways on this, and now the XBox side goes (aka Prophet), "But but but... it didn't beat Halo". The other side goes, "No one said it would beat Halo". And yet, you see "Halo Killer" thrown around also, partly by Sony fanboys. Even recently it was stated. Anyhow, this being said, I will post my thread asking about sales. Sales on Killzone 2 have been impressive, if you consider this context:
http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=54482

Killzone 2 is getting hyped as some sort of PS3 savior. One question on here even asked if the the XBox 360 could survive KZ2's "onslaught". Anyone, can someone give any reason why Killzone 2 should have more sales than Resistance 2? Please let me know where I am wrong regarding any of the following and if I missed anything:

1. At this point and time Resistance seems to be the flagship FPS for the PS3, already having two titles in the franchise. Killzone appeared once on the PS2, and while had solid voice acting, didn't burn up the charts or make a difference.

2. Resistance 2 was promoted by Sony for the Christmas season. KZ2 is to be released during an arguably slow time of the year.

3. KZ2 is the subject of industry jokes of how pre-rendered videos were marketed as actual gameplay. This is an embarrassing stigma. And while the latest clip looks promising, can anyone argue that it is "lightyears" beyond what was saw in Gears 2?

In light of that, the sales on Killzone 2 have been impressive. It is likely to be a top seller historically for a March release. And consider the current economic conditions also. I am not even talking about it being on the PS3 either.

uuumm...huh? Have you checked the week 1 sales of Gears 1 on this VERY site? 910,000 - Week 1, where'd you get 1.9mill day 1? Hmmmm........

He was talking Gears 2 and either way he is still wrong because it sold 1.9M for the week, not first day. His whole post is moot.

KZ2 released 27th on America....and the VGC sales chart says "28th" ...talk about comparing launch "weeks" .........

Halo 3 pulled in more then 2 million in 24 hours...................nice try to damage control.

Your only proving that PS3 games just arent as relevant in the real world.

No Prophet! Killzone 2 did good.

Read my post

I did....and I think its heresy. Blashphemy. Your a 360 fan, and your showing weakness. Maybe if you pray to MS your soul can be forgiven :p

KZ2 is a big boy game.......so we compare KZ2 to 360 big boy games like Gears 1/2 and Halo 3.

With your post......your saying KZ2 isnt a "bigboy" game cause it cant stand next to them in sales. nice.

Gears 1 sold 910k worldwide in its first week. It also had a Tuesday release and got 5 days worth of sales data instead of only 2. It also released in the Holiday season and not at the end of February like Killzone 2.

So I guess Gears 1 isn't such a big boy anymore huh?

360 install base at time of Gears release - 5-6 million

PS3 install base at time of KZ2 release - 20 million

lol Gears 1 rocked.

Gears 1 was also the 360's first really BIG game, what else was out there? It was the first game most people played around that time. First BIG game + Holiday release, you figure it out.

Anyone acting like 750k is a bad "first week" is out of their minds in my opinion. Especially when this is what most people on this site predicted.

PD0, PGR3, COD 2, Ghost Recon: AW, Fight Night 3, Oblivion, Dead Rising, Saints Row.

Plenty big games on 360 b4 the 2006 holiday lineup.

Gears 2 was released on 11/7, and that's when the tracking of sales for that week ended, meaning Gears 2 only had one day of sales for that week. It's really simple, Euphoria.

I must say gebx, as of late, you've posted far more reasonably, respect man :)

@ Prophet

You sir troll often, it's fine to favor a console/company. However, your blatant, uncalled-for trolling says much less about "Sony fanboys", than it does about your insecurities. Give it a rest man, eventually you'll be banned for this kinda stuff.

OT: I think anyone who is disapoointed with KZ2' sales is entitled to that. I, personally, always thought 700,000 was a reasonable amount, and seeing as how it pulled that off and then some, I believe it's done quite well for itself.

750 K is very good amount to sell first week.

This.
The-Prophet is right.

GOW: 900k on a 6 million userbase.
K2: 750k on a 20 million userbase.

Gears of War sales (first week) are astounding.
A 15% attach ratio.

(Killzone2 is the biggest hyped game I've seen in my life. Gamer since I'm 9, I'm 27 now.)
Killzone2 first week = 4% attach ratio.

There is something weird with the PS3 userbase... What's so wrong?

Anyway...
I've made my contribution, I've bought Killzone2.
Awesome game!

Go. Buy. It.

My Gaming Setup

One reason might be to call KZ2, Halo-killer...and then drop a number like 750K in week one...against Halo's 3.8 million. Further more, you've got Halo:ODST coming out in maybe Sept, and it's going to be crazy and push consoles out the door, like Halo 3 did...360 fan's didn't label KZ2 Halo-killer, last time I checked.

Xbox 360 Owners buy shooters more than anything else

While Ps3 owners buy Everything. mostly JRPG's

The sales this gen doesn't prove your point at all. You're living off of a generalization of the PS2 and PSX glory days. Sony no longer has monopoly over the 3rd party titles. This is the reason Sony had "everything"

Ugh... according to your own logic, none of those games were "BIG BOYS".

First week sales for each.

Perfect Dark Zero - 220k
PGR3 - 120k
Call of Duty 2 - 270k
Ghost Recon: AW - 230k
Fight Night R3 - 122k
Oblivion - 303k
Dead Rising - 231k
Saints Row - 274k
