Forums - Gaming - Which one do you think adds more value to a game?

Eyetoy looks amazing on the PS3, looks like a lot of fun and I imagine lots of good things are about to come.

The Wiimote... well we all know what the Wiimote has done for nintendo.

And for the 360... well... the buzz controller (just kidding), nothing there I think. By the way don't attack me, I'm a 360 fan.

I would imagine that the Wiimote add more value, but the eyetoy has an amazing technology that if it is use on the right way you may do something like the Wiimote, but instead of using the controller you use an actual raquet.

What do you think?

Wiimote with rumble in a plastic shell of a tennis raquet.

Actually, a chrome finish to the console adds over $100 value, adequately justifying the increased cost.

Ubuntu. Linux for human beings.

If you are interested in trying Ubuntu or Linux in general, PM me and I will answer your questions and help you install it if you wish.

The problem with something like the eye toy is the limited number of games that will be developed for it because it's not central to the PS3.
I'd never get it, myself. I tried it in a Best Buy once when the original came out and felt like a moron waving my arms around. I've had no problems with Wii or Guitar Hero demos in public. I think holding something kind of removes the awkwardness of it.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

Well to be fair the harddrive and wireless controller also had something to do with it.

That tends to be true for damn near every "peripheral" since the dawn of Consoles.  Outside of third party controllers that basically do the same thing the included console controllers do, I can't think of any "accessory" that was a major impact.  It is my personal belief that if a manufacturer wants a particular peripheral to become an integrated part of the experience, it needs to come with the console from day one.  If not, then it needs to be released, essentially free of charge, along with an exceptional game.

I don't see "add-ons" and the Wiimote as being in the same category as the Wiimote is required...

That said, I believe Microsoft or Sony could easily produce a Wii-like controller for their system.  Would it be successful?  Only if they produced a game -- like Wii Sports but better in every single way and sold it for the standard price of a game and INCLUDE the controller.  This, in my opinion, is the only path toward an accessory having any possiblity of success.

I hate trolls.

come Levend, at least put a smiley at the end of it! :)

See!?!?!

And the eyetoy(isn't it the PSeye?) should do fairly well, since it seems a lot more polished than the original. But it really isn't in the same league as the Wiimote in terms of sales, implementation, and general impact on the industry.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

You're right, a smiley was needed, I shouldn't have responded the way I did in the first place so I went back and completely changed it.

Oops double post :/

The Wiimote has an unfair advantage in this thread because it is Nintendo's main draw. A better comparison would be:

Nintendo Wiiboard
Sony Eyetoy
Microsoft Buzz controller.

Nintendo still wins in my oppinion

I'd say they're both pretty important in their own sense.
I personally don't like the Wiimote much in conventional games, but it's brilliant in Wiisports and probably in SMG!
Have the original eyetoy for PS2, but the refresh rate on PSeye is considerably amped up, right?
