Forums - Sales - Information on costs of TV advertisement in the UK.

Ok so I was watching a program on channel 4 about advertisement. One man mentioned how much it costs to advertise on TV in the UK.

To advertise between Dancing on Ice, watched by 8.5M people every week, one 30 second advert costs £57,000.

This is the maximum amount a 30 second ad will cost. This is because DoI is on at peak time and is the most watched TV program at the moment. Ads not on at peak time obviously cost less.

Yeah its expensive. But also remember just as newspapers are dying due to revenue loss from ads so to are tv stations. The internet WILL be the best method of targeting young people, especially in another decade or so, but until the internet is proven to be more valuable tv will be more costly.

I am so glad i left England before Dancing on Ice was on tv, Jonathan Ross is a nob

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

lol, When i recall british tv Ross is kinda like the very worst i can remember.

That and Rolf Harris

For how long?

Or is it the cost for a one-off ad??

Thats a one off

In fairness a similar sized slot on a Sat Channel at 2 am in the morning will probably barely cost you a grand.

That's absolutely nuts. That's an eCPM of around $110 USD *if* that 8.5 million users watched the ad. Compare that to $20 for internet ads, and you can see how grossly poor that kind of payment is. You could send the same ad to 40 million people on the net for the same cost.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
