Forums - Gaming - "IGN: Rated M for must have." Guess Mature games really are for the kids.

Oh no! Kids like what they're not supposed to like. Who could have seen this coming?

i been playing M rated games before i can even play E10+ rated games... no one wants to play jrpgs with pink flowers everywhere or pokemon till they are 17

Are you implying that the 3 types of games are M rated games, pink flower JRPGs, and Pokemanz, and that one is for mature people and the other two are for young children who don't know any better?

Are you implying that all Mortal Kombat games are better than all Street Fighter games because they have fatalities?

Are you implying that it's 1992 all over again?

 i dont get it

Violence and Sex sells.

Peace Sells, but whose buyin?

OT: It won't help that Toys R Us is putting a red banner on the top of all M-rated titles that says "MATURE TITLE".

Then how would you explain the wide appeal of Mortal Kombat back in the day that every kid wanted, especially on the SEGA Gen cause it had blood and gore, Street Fighter II at the time appealed to the more mature gamer who wanted a good arcade fighter, while Mortal Kombat had all the kids gathered around the arcade machines.

Maybe because they found it more FUN then Street Fighter?

Heh I was one of the few kids that played street fighter, and most of the bragging was about the gore and fatalities not how much fun they had with it, though they may have had more fun ripping peoples heads off though that only confirms that it's appeal was the violence.

agreed. I had street fighter II Turbo, and everyone would come over and tell us about all the fatalities in Mortal Kombat 2. No one cared for the fighting, we just died and then grabbed our magazine to figure out how to do the fatalities.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

Haven't we known this for a long time?

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

i agree with the article. cod is filled with kids. it's the rated E games that seem to be targeted at an older audience. They'll choose killzone over tetris.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

Some publishers must push the ESRB to give them that M rating just to make the game more tantalizing to youths.

I like M rated products and I have since an early age when I found some Playboys somewhere the best because of the gals.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

And in other news, humans need air to breathe.

It has nothing to do with kids liking blood gore and guts..it has to do with kids wanting to feel grown up and "cool"

well yes, thats the half of it. they also want to be like tough men...

which is why you dont see a lot of kids reading romance or comedy, they go straight to action and stuff like that.

Um... I loved reading (and watching) comedy and romance when I was younger.

Also, that remark is a tad sexist.  I don't think girl gamers "want to be like tough men."
