What I do hate are reviewers that pretend to be (ex) Sonic fans, pretending to know what a Sonic game ought to be.

I really think they just want a game that plays well and is fun.

But that doesn't mean they should give an unfairly low score. What's that, tough love?

Reviewers should review the game as it is, not what they think it ought to be (because if so, then you'll only concentrate on what the game is "missing" and not on what the game has). Blind nostalgia is an unreachable standard.

I agree that nostalgia is an issue with any and all franchises.

However, I think most of the problems lied with the bad motion controls. From the review at least. I haven't played it.

The reviews seem to complain simply about having to use motion controls, not whether they are reliable or responsive.

To be fair, he was complaining that the swordplay is nothing more than a basic motion control. He said that it doesn't even register horizontal & verticle swipes, it's just basic wiimote movement.

(I refuse to say the term waggle, it's .....as Matt would put it, retarded.)

So basically, no matter how you swing the Wiimote, the sword would do the same exact thing? Ugh.

I don't know, but I find it funny that you want to mention the term.

But is this a combat heavy game? If so, that would make more sense. But wouldn't complex controls slow this game down even more, when he complained the combat removed the speed from the game? Seems he's not consistent with what he wants this game to have been.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Oops IGN fucked up....again.

From RobbieNick on neogaf.

Proof.

"You can beat the primary single-player mode in a few hours and then you'll unlock some extra playable characters. But there's no point in going back unless you like torturing yourself."

Wrong. You do not "beat" the game, then unlock the characters. The game gives off a false ending with credits, then the major plot twist happens and the game continues with the ability to play as the other knights. The story is still going on. Did Matt actually think that little bit was the ending?!

BTW, how do I put in those spoiler tags so I can mention the twist in the story?

IGN not finishing a game (yet claiming they did) then writting a review.

*slow clap*

Whoaaaaa DAMN! Worse then Sonic The hedgehog 2006? .......... uh.......... ima leave the Sonic Support Squad if this keeps up... :/

I really don't think the game would have received such a low score if the main character had been someone else, don't get me wrong I never liked the idea of Sonic running around with a sword, but 3.9? I find it hard to believe. For one thing the score lower than Sonic the Hedgehog and there's just no way on Earth it's worse than Sonic next gen (the only main title that I agree is abysmal). It seems like even professional reviewers will jump on the 'bash Sonic" bandwagon. The whole thing is so blown out of proportion it's untrue.

I'll be buying it regardless of the review. Sonic Unleashed did not fair too well neither but I greatly enjoyed both Wii and PS3 versions. Unfortunately Resident Evil 5 is being released on the same day so it'll have to sit around for a bit.
