This is the sound of me repeatedly banging my head on a wall.
WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU COMPARE A PS3 GAME ON A 21 MILLION USERBASE WHICH IS THE SEQUEL TO A 2 MILLION SELLING GAME WITH SONY ADVERTISING RELEASED IN FEBRUARY TO A 360 GAME ON A 26 MILLION USERBASE WHICH IS THE SEQUEL TO A 5.5 MILLION SELLING GAME WITH MICROSOFT ADVERTISING RELEASED IN NOVEMBER?
Sorry for caps and bold. But that is one of the most ridiculous comparisons I have ever seen.
I suppose Halo Wars failed as well?

Firstly - Others.
Ps3 current userbase: 9.9M
X360 userbase on GeoW 2 launch: 8.5M
GeoW 2 sold: 589K
Killzone 2 sold: 372K
Penetration rates:
Killzone 2: 3.75%
GeoW 2: 6.92%
That's a major difference, so I can see why people who expected it to sell ala GeoW 2 are dissapointed. After all, it seems to be of an equally large production cost.
So that part of your question is pretty much meaningless. It actually works the opposite way of what you said.
Then I feel that KZ2 was advertised as much as GeoW 2, but I live in Norway, so this is anedoctal. Still, one of Sony's best advertised games.
I agree with you that it was silly to believe KZ2 would match GeoW WW, but several people expected it to do so in Others.
