Forums - Microsoft - What microsoft need to do to conquer Europe and Japan?

Both europeans and japanese seems to don't like microsoft consoles, Japan is easier to understand the 360 hard times over there. But what about europe? Even the 360 having more shooters, having the same soccer franchises, near the same games and lower price it just is having hard time with ps3. Gran Turismo is the explanation? Microsoft seems to be concerning about conquering japan with SHMUPS, RPGs,Mecha and other strange stuff while europe looks forgotten.

It´s time to Microsoft make her movies with exclusivity of racing games, soccer exclusive, maybe creating her own franchise of soccer, realese more game based in European culture and history and etc. I wan't to see the 360 at least 10 million ahead of ps3 in Europe alone at the end of generation and reach 2 million consoles in Japan.(unrealistic expecatives, I know...)

not everyone likes shooters? Every market has different interests.

I actually think its a good thing there is a spread of consoles vs 1 console owning up every market like the ps1/ps2 era. The core problem with this current generation is that sony took a bet on owning every market like they did with the ps2 but it hasn't panned out that way.

"Make her movies?" I apologize if English isn't your first language, but...what? The 360 has plenty of exclusive racing games, and if they haven't contributed towards driving hardware sales, it shows that the general market doesn't really care. Creating exclusive sports franchises among first parties is usually a great idea and often produces great results (MLB: The Show, NFL 2K), but the series never end up big and certainly don't increase hardware sales. I don't know you care where each system ends up unless you're a big fanboy anyways.

to succeed in japan all they need to do is invest in the market(buy square enix) and that might help in europe(and last i check werent they winning in there?)

It's pretty much all about image in Europe I believe. Japan on the other hand... Image, games, and being foreign. And say whatever you want, the whole box (the console itself, that is) looks pretty American to me. I don't know if I thought this way if I didn't actually know but I suppose most know MS if American anyway. Then again, I don't know if its looks actually matter in Japan.

Playstation is a very big brand in Europe, thus Microsoft has a hard time selling their consoles there. Fortunately with that low price point, they are doing much better now and they will be head to head with Sony next generation even without a headstart.

we don't like fps and shooters that much in europe...
microsoft had better make some good western rpgs and games like god of war to make us buy xbox

i cant speak for all of europe but germany is a pc nation ..the pc sector gets the most attention and consoles are regarded to be for kids

the playstation has.. established istelf mostly through games like fifa and any kind of racing simulation ..formula 1 preferably on one side and things like sing star buzz and the eyetoy and thats the foundation from the past two gens is what  the ps3 is living from although people are starting to get disappointed ..but if you consider that the ps3 is considered a success in germany even though it only sold 1 million consoles with a potential 20-30 million customers show how little support consoles get over here

even more so with a company like microsoft that isnt that long in console market

the xbox is regarded as something of a bare bone pc .and the common notion is that whatever exclusives it has to offer will be avaiable for the pc sooner or later

another problem is that ..since most of us use computers for games.. is that it is a microsoft console .. i know its common to hate microsoft and curse it for forcing us to use "broken" operating systems .. but you cant imagine how severe that is in germany everyone complains about microsoft and even things have improved alot since win 98 everyone is a self proclaimed expert and scoffs at vistas hunger for ram.. xps attemts to spy on you and so forth

so the bottom line is people think" why should we buy their console when we have to use their shit on pc already"

please this is no attempt to bash the 360 nor attempt at trolling i just want you to give some insight in the consumer behaviour of everybodys war mongering barbarians ;)

wether or not you think those arguments are valid or not , they do exist

Well, MS already has the UK, the largest EU market, and has been making huge inroads recently in France, Germany and other Western European markets.

Japan. Who needs Japan anymore?
