By making sweeping statements and calling the sales "underwhelming" with respect to what you yourself tag as "fanboyish" expectations, aren't you just validating the worst aspect of the discussion? Break the circle.

Well, you got closer than the rest of them .

Thats just it.  It is that worst aspect I am attacking.  Unfortunately, much of that worst aspect is the same aspect that makes a point of attacking me in threads like these.

Without naming names of course .

I'm not letting you off the hook, mind you :)

Your sincerity and good faith would show if instead of saying "sells are underwhelming" you would say "sells are slightly more what was pronosticated on average. But they will be underwhelming for those who said over 2 millions. Ah-ha to them!"

Otherwise, you're as guilty as any flamebaiter :)

^ i just looked at the 1-2 million bracket still 11 is far from 24 bluelady

9 over the 750 mark...

Which makes it 20 people overestimating (assuming it does 750K in total first week, which seems likely) and 49 underestimating,

So, in the end, looks like KZ2 is performing better than what was expected here in this site

Lol.

You've pretty much ignored everything I have said in this thread bar once obscure cherry-picked comment huh?

Problem is, you're carefully avoiding measurable statements because you know they can't be challenged easily. If you say "KZ2 is the most hyped PS3 game ever", there's no effective way to measure that, we could try to count the number of threads, the hits in the database, the number of KZ avatars, the number of times someone said "KZ2 will be huge", but in the end, there's no way to measure it, so in the end, the argument holds no place as it can't be verified.

The only time you provided something that can be measured, you were proved wrong

Proved wrong?

This entire thread I maintained that Sony fans have overhyped this game.  You took a sample of EVERYONE and used it in an attempt to undermine my argument, completely ignoring the specifications I made.

I'll give you a hint.  There are people in this thread, indeed in this very discussion, who will ALWAYS argue with EVERYTHING I have to say regardless of how correct it may be.  If they cannot win an argument, they attempt to reframe what I am saying.  I strongly suggest you do not join their ranks.

There shouldn't be an issue here.  I haven't actually said anything remotely controversial.  These people simply take my existence in a thread as an offense to their Sony-coloured vision.  I guess they just view me as a vent for their frustrations

How many times must people prove you wrong before enough is enough?

Thats just it, I am not wrong.

I have said that I feel Killzone 2 did well, many times.

Do you disagree with this?

But clearly, as the most hyped Playstation 3 game in history, having received four years of overpraise, over-anticipation and over the top predictions (to the point that many people still predicted hundreds of thousands if not millions of units over the eventuality just DAYS before the game's release) Killzone 2 has underwhelmed.

please tell me about this hype you speak of honestly you just lie. i mean iyes hype as in this game is good and people are excited to play it, but not like oh best game will sell like 1.8 million.

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

But thats just it.  MY argument has never been that everyone has been overhyping Killzone 2.  Only PS3 fans.  And even then only the ones that tend towards irrationality.

I simply said that that group would either be majorly disappointed or fly into damage control.

We saw a lot of the latter in this thread

Which is another vacuous statement, as it can't be tested. You can say all what you want, but if you can't prove what you say, you can't hold an argument. And people have every right to challenge you. If I say something like "the Wii is pure shovelware" (not that you said anything like that), people will argue with me. In the end, this is a forum. If you wanna state something, be prepared to defend it. This is what we call a "discussion".

So, you got your theory. People are asking you to prove it, and you haven't. That's all I'm saying

PS3 Outsell 360 tally

Both US/EU: 1

EU only: 8.5

US only: 0

None: 11.5

I counted the "maybe and possibly" EU as 0.5 for both none and EU only.

The actual result? Draw for EU.

Starcraft can't pinpoint people and expectations because they didn't exist.

Simple as that. Until he can do that, no one should quote or reply to them, because, as always, he lives in a world of speculation and 'hype'. lol.

http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=57302

There you go.

Many up over a million.

Some at two million.

Very few guessed less than the sales.

I tallied all the predictions to prove that you don't know have an argument there

Less than 500K: 16 people
Between 500K and 1M: 45 people
Between 1M and 2M: 9 people
More than 2M: 2 people

You still mantain what you said?

OF course.  A great many of those in the rather broad 500k to 1M range were 750k and above.

And once again you're wrong

500K-750K: 33 people
750K-1M: 9 people

I know they don't add, some weren't very specific like saying "between 500K and 1M" and I may have missed some, but the difference is too big either way.

Thank you.

Once again, starcraft is proven incorrect.  It's a shame he makes such a spectacle of himself because he used to be quite a good poster.  Like I had said originally, he lives in a world of speculation and hype.  When in a thread, 61/72 people in the thread he linked to proved that KZ2 did exactly or better (in 16 cases) than they thought.  Again, he tries to use 'hype' as an expectation for sales, but then when he puts his money where his proverbial mouth is, in this case, the thread, he is proven incorrect.  Please people, do not give this troll any more attention.  There is no need to even discuss this anymore, he's proven himself incorrect, and like I said before, KZ2 is a fuck-awesome game.  If you own it, go play it, and let him get banned :)

This is why you don't argue with Starcraft.  He lives in speculation world.  He makes comments that cannot be proven incorrect or correct, and when he does, like when he supplied the thread, he's proven to be silly.  Just like his argument about how JRPGs can't sell on the PS3, and WKC proved that wrong in one fell swoop, he still maintined (and still will maintain) that he never said it couldn't, but hadn't proven itself to (Which are essentially one in the same).  He'll never admit that he was/is wrong about anything because he makes sure to never be clear in what he is trying to say.  That's why there is  no point in even directly responding to his posts.  In the future, it is best for him to come into a thread, say whatever the fuck he wants to, then ignore his comments completely, as this is the usual outcome of any thread he posts in.
