Just so people in this thread know what was going on in that thread, here is the original OP, not the completely edited one you see now if you check the thread.
His opinions were fine on the game, but let me know if you can spot where he made his mistake.

Hell no.
Being critical of a game only works if it's constructive. And you can not be critical, constructive or not, unless you've personally played whatever part of the game you're being critical of.
Being critical does not mean being insulting. You have to be careful because it can be a fine line.
Sometimes people drive up to that line, then blast across it. That is when they get into trouble.
The key is to remember that these are your perceptions and may not (or may) reflect those of other people. If you express things as how you see it -- and mind your manners -- you can be a lot more critical than you realize without getting in trouble and causing others to take offense.
I am Mario.I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble. Wii Friend Code: 1624 6601 1126 1492 NNID: Mike_INTV |

This doesn't require buying: one could try the game at a friend's or at a shop, or get enough infos from a review whose author he knows as reliable, and like it (or be reasonably sure he'll like it), but finding a serious issue, he could like to make developers know he wants to be sure it will be solved within a reasonable term before buying it.
Anyhow I agree that excluding reviews that one can consider reliable and as unbiased as humanly possible, at least according to his tastes, constructive criticism requires in every other case playing the game.
| CGI-Quality said: @ Euphoria/DMJ Agreed! @ Euphoria: and that's another reason I said he was trolling, because he was insulting the game, not because he didn't like it. Regardless, J-Man, do you know the difference between an honest complaint/dislike and an unneccesary label of a game: Case in point: "I did not like the feel of the controls" - this wouldn't have warranted a defense force from fans of KZ2 such as myself & Euphoria! But: "F-you FAILZONE" is not only unnecessary criticism and labeling, but for all intents and purposes, it's TROLLING! Now, tell me, what don't you unterstand about that? |
I know I said I wasn't going to add anything else to this thread but I have to comment on the highlighted part here.
What I was saying in that thread had nothing to do with being a fan of Killzone 2, I openly admit myself that the multiplayer pisses me off to no end. It it gets better as you level up and gain new classes, which takes forever, for me anyways. Single player is beyond awesome though in my opinion.
It was 2 things to be honest.
#1. I didn't like the pre-emptive strike on the PS3 fanbase in the final paragraph and gave my opinion on the whole thing and of course called it out. There is zero need what so ever for that in what is supposed to be a review. It made it worse when he called you blind because you didn't experience these same "issues" that he did, as though his opinion was absolute. Not sure if it was that thread or if it was Garnett I would need to check but I am fairly certain it even went to the point where it was said that "99% of the people are blinded by the hype".
#2. He did not clarify that his 15-20fps comment was "drops" or "steady" and I called him out on that too. He ended up meaning drops, so i'll leave it at that in hopes that he claifies much better next time. It is his job as the thread creator to clarify what everything in his thread means, not our job to figure it out.
Everything else was perfectly fine, I know that no game is going to get universal praise. Unless is "Super Mario Bros. 3" of course.

| CGI-Quality said: @ Euphoria Whats funny is now that I re-read that, I meant to say PS3 fans not KZ2 fans because his comment was addressed to mainly PS3 fans. My error. |
No problem man.
As much as I disliked it I came to terms with Garnett later on in the thread and we actually got along quite well.

Are you aware that nobody has any idea what the hell you just said? Wait, let me try. So J-man needs to read a post by...Squilliam? Where? Who is this Star Trek persona of whom you speak? |

| Phoenix_Wiight said: idk.... i bought bioshock and thought it was a straight out average game (85/100) and people flamed me for not saying it was an AAA game. i try to be as unbiased as possible when I rate stuff too |
Just so you don't think your alone. I think that Bioshock isn't AAA, but I didn't realize that until I finished it. The chambers that brings you back to life make the Big Daddy's as scarry as a teddy bear. You know if you die, you will just be brought back in the nearest life chamber (can't remember the proper name). Prey was worse in that regard. When you died in that game, you went thru a little minigame where you shot spirits and then your are revived in the exact spot you died (unless it was a fall or other environmental hazard).
well, the criticism is coming from both sides in those threads.
sure it's fine to state your opinion that a game can be bad (no matter what hype it received), but you better expect to hear from the people that think the game is good.
or should we expect to have the forums managed in such a way that there was one thread for "____ game sucks" and one thread for "____ game is awesome" and no one would be allowed to post in both threads and if you posted in the contrary to title then you'd be banned.
freedom of speech, yes?
