I think most players go for fame as well, but money is still the biggest incentive. If you want a good example take david beckham. Do you think he gets more fame in L.A.Galaxy than he does on A.C.Milan? Not by a long shot, but still, the money is in L.A.Galaxy, so that's where he is going to stay. Most players go where the money is, and today's biggest money makers are the english, spanish, italian and german clubs, which is a mirror of those countries economical situation. The 4th best portuguese club doesn't stand a chance to win the CL, that's correct, but please tell me, outside the Spanish and English league, if there's even a third club in the german league, or a fifth club in the italian league who can seriously win the CL as well? And portugal doesn't have just one club, it has two. Benfica and Porto. Benfica may not be as good as porto in the past years. but they have won two CL cup as well, and has been a runner up 5 times in the past. That's a good situation for two 40 million euro budget club.

i agree.

But i do believe that Bayern who are 4th in the german league have the ability to win the champions league. Which shows the strength of the german league.

Bayern isn't having quite a particular good time on the bundesliga this year, but that doesn't mean that the clubs ahead of it are more qualified to be on the CL than bayern. Experience is what's most important in the CL, because it's more difficult to prepare a team to play against the top clubs in europe, than against clubs of the same league whom they contact each year. I remember distinctly that Liverpool a few years ago went to the final match of the CL against A.C Milan, and yet they finished 5th or 6th on the premier league. Also F.C.Porto in 2001 went as far as the quarter finals of the CL and yet it was Boavista F.C (a club that today is on the second division here in portugal and almost falling to the third division) who won the championship.

Ye Liverpool came 5th. Was very strange that they (deservidly) beat all the major sides in the champions league but struggled in the Premiership against "lesser" oposition.

It's because their main focus was the CL, Rafa Beñitez said so himself. They put out their main resources for the CL games, and when it came to saving some players on the premier league games to keep them fresh and good for the CL games, they did that almost every game. Mainly it was because they were still in a construction phase of the team, and weren't as solid as they are right now, some sacrifices had to be made in order to try to accomplish something that year. They played a phenomenal footbal in the CL but were seriously underwhelming in some Premier league games. I think that's the case with Bayern this year, the pattern seems almost identical. They had a massive loss this week against Wolfsburg, but on CL they are playing some really good games.

I bet this seems funny now haha

lol United got owned

1:4

hahahahahahaha

I think liverpool is going to give Man Und a really hard time in the premier league in these last games, they are playing really good, even though they only managed to win the last game in the last minute, they also had so many chances and i think they did send some four balls to the poles if i'm not mistaken. The CL is anyone's game right now, but my bet goes to Barcelona, Liverpool or Man Und, even though in my heart i really want porto to win it xD (well, at least as long as we are still on the CL :P after that my heart goes to Man Und, it has been my second most beloved club)
