Forums - Sony - PS3 Fans/Owners- Are you glad/dissapointed that Sony is in last place?

I'm kind of glad they're in last place because when this gen started, Sony were over-confident about the PS3 and even said "PS3 will sell 5 million units even if it didn't have games." This showed they were relying on brand power, but backfired. Now they have to step it up and get the ball rolling with more games, improve PSN, etc.

Horribly biased article.

Umm the ps2 broke A LOT too. It seems Microsoft learned from sony in more ways than one. Sony released the ps2 before it was ready to kill dreamcast.
Microsoft launched early to kill sony. Not complicated

The difference is that the ps2 killed the dreamcast, the ps3 is alive and I doubt the xbox willl kill it.

Given the crap that Sony tried to pull early this gen -particularly in terms of the way they consistently insulted their fanbase before the PS3's release- I'm glad they're facing the consequences of that. Perhaps next generation they'll learn their lesson and treat their fans better, or at least not take them for granted like they did this time.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

I hear this "insulted the fanbase" all the time, but... I can't ever recall being insulted by my PS3.

My Wii did insult me, with its noisy drive seeking, when I tried to play Deadly Creatures lately, but that's another story.

In last place or not, Sony is giving me the next gen gaming of my life.
Who care's about places? Sony just showed everyone the shit they could pull off in last place, I envy them.

I care as much as the fact that there are probably 100 Camerys out there for every IS300

I loved the PS2, but I feel Sony tried to make us buy something, thinking we had no other alternative. Blu-Ray.

I never really liked Sony first party games, I was more in the Playstation for its great 3rd party support. Now the 360 has said support as well, and despite no interesting first party games either, I think it delivers a better experience than the PS3 for half the price, as well as better 3rd party support and more gaming related features and innovation.

I'm enjoying the PS3 being in third place because I know you hate it. You've stayed awake in your bed before, lamenting the fact, justifying it with strange and irrelevant arguments. The PS3 isn't a failure, it's just a failure "comparatively," and it gets my rocks off, so shit yeah, bring on those Killzone 2 sales.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Sony lost with the PS3, but won for Blu Ray. Fair trade I say. I still like my PS3 and still have my pre-orderz waiting. F'n Gamestop!

No, i love my PS3!
