Forums - Sales - An excellent first party is a strength, not a weakness

Excellent read, again. And something I've been echoing for a while as well. Attitudes from fanboys and companies alike "Can't compete with Nintendo Products" always sounds like some nonsensical cop out.

My other favorite line is "Without Nintendo 1st party games Wii's games suck" and? Who's fault is that? It certainly isn't Nintendo's. I've read something similar here before, It was probably something you wrote Rol, about how the gaming media takes a positive (nintendo's first party quality) and tries to make it negative.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

This really deserves more discussion.

Looking at Japan (at least) for the current and the immediate past generation, the first-party/third-party ratios of top sellers is reversed.

For Nintendo, 16 of the top 20 sellers were first-party.
For Sony and Microsoft, 16 of the top 20 sellers were third-party.

People think it is bad if you make good software.

I think Sony and Microsoft wish they were as cursed as Nintendo in this regard.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Rol is just trying to build up his credibility so he can fool more people with his next joke thread.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

Well Zenfoldor's been keeping the suspense up long enough. When he signs back on, I demand a fleshed out response!

"Even combined and doubled, Sony and Microsoft can't quite match Nintendo's sales". That is one very amazing little piece of information right there.

Okami

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.

It's like he's just throwing away everything we've come to expect from him!

Who said it was a weakness?
