Forums - Gaming - What do you want from Eidos?

I should of posted this thread when there was still a lot of buzz from Square-Enix's acquisition of the studio, but I hope there's some people who have played a few Eidos games and are still interested in the company.

Deus Ex 3: I'll be honest, I'm pretty pessimistic about the game. Although I'm a console gamer, I got to play Deus Ex years after it was released (Last, or last last summer) and I still absolutely loved the game (maybe due to being a fan of Ghost in the Shell). I didn't play Deus Ex 2, but from what I read about it, they seemed to of taken out a lot of the charm of the first game. Even though I'm a console gamer, I hope that Eidos designs this, first and foremost, as a PC game, and then try their best to port it to the consoles. Even if the console versions suck, I'll rather have the PC version, the game as it was intended, be good, rather than having an overall family of shitty versions and ports.

Things I hope they keep:

  • Sweet electronic/ambient track. I hope they can utilize a better budget and have a similar soundtrack, except with real instruments, and computer generated sounds that don't sound like its from a electronic piano from the 80's. They should look to their own soundtrack, Mirror's Edge's, along with Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory's soundtrack for some inspiration. It should sound a bit dark when acts of conspiracy/stealth is going on, and a chill, melow, techy music when the action is chilled. Go to stillstream.com, if you want to hear what kind of sound track I want.
  • Openess of the world. I'm a bit divided over whether or not I want a Elderscrolls, or Fallout 3 (from what it looks like) styled open world or what we had last game, which was having a linear level system, yet the levels being pretty big/having multiple paths. Either way, the thing they need to definetly keep is having multiple paths. I love to stealth through things, listen on conversations, look in each room, look through the computers, etc. I'll love it if the levels and buildings were life sized so that I can spend hours going through them.
  • Allowing different ways of handling situations. Pretty much as I just said it. Stealth, combat, and RPG.
  • Customization of characters. I hope that the timeline allows for some really sweet mind fucking. Would you be willing to chop off your arms so you can lift some shit up? Get some "skull guns", but as a result be feared when talking to humans? Would you risk being more vulnerable to electric shocks and hacking, for being able to become a Terminator/Robocop clone and have bullets bounce off you? Be able to jump high, and sink to the bottom of a ocean? And what kind of cybernizations do you want? Light, heavy, medium? Should we also have biological augmentations (drugs, exercise, training) to balance the debate?
  • Moral choices. And no, I don't mean start a conversation and choose Option A, which is obviously good, or choose Option B, which is obviously bad. I also heard criticism that there was a lack of good and bad in Deus Ex 2, and that every faction was pretty much an ass hole. So what do I want? Pretty much having moral choices that are devisive among the players. So that there will be a population that will strongly disagree, and another that strongly disagree. Or having choices that can lead to a conclusion, but will require and spark debate. Nothing obvious, nothing that's pointless. It'll be also nice to have the more subtle things have consequences, and have actions have impact, rather than just conversations. So what I mean is that when I stole from the ATM in the 'Ton, and I read a data cube that said that the money was the owner's who's barely able to keep his head above the water. If I don't steel the money, then the 'Ton will be in better shape next time. I remember being in France, and after breaking in a hotel room, having Helios criticize my human nature.

New things I want/changes.

  • New minigames/interactivity in skills. I want a picklocking mini game, but that's done well. I REALLY want a hacking minigame, that's beautiful and trippy in its own way. Baisicly I want to be able to do more things, rather than having it automatically done.
  • News skills. How about a "tools" skill. So if I don't cyborg I could be able to tie a wire from the top of a building and in a SWAT like fashion rapel down, and maybe kick through a window and start shooting? A conversation skill will be nice like the "Speechcraft" in Oblivion.
  • More realism/penalties. If I just start shooting around, and taking bullets as a human, I may get permanent injuries that will require me cyborging. I'll get scars for my wounds, which will alienate me from humans. If I hurt/kill someone there are serious consequences.
  • FIX THE FUCKING AI. The stealth is good on the macro scale (choosing the paths, avoiding patrols, staying hidden, etc), but its just horrible when you're standing right in front of them, and they can't see you, or simply "investiage". They should get tips from the AI team for Splinter Cell. Shooting is absolutely atrocious.
  • More weapons customizations, and more weapons. I'll love to have some kind of MGS4 explanation, where some modern weapons are locked, or can be disabled remotely, and you can choose to hack those weapons yourself or pay someone. Or you can simply go for old weapons. However you won't have a HUD that shows the ammo you have, or a reticle.
  • Speaking of HUD, I'll really love to have the sense of immersion by not having one, or if you do have one it's based on the software/hard ware you have. If you have a "cyber brain" augmentation, you can remotely hack things, hack things better, and plug in weapons directly to your brain to get relevant info. You never leave first person view.

Hitman 5

I'm getting tired of typing =/ So here's what I want briefly:

  • Fix the AI. Its attrocious.
  • No score/extra money rewards/Silent Assassin title. I don't mind having newspaper articles that describe you something, but I just don't like having this hierarichal standard on how you should play. If no one saw you/lived to tell the tale, who cares about "damage control" costs and you not getting a "perfect score" because you used a bullet? Have money taken off for being on cameras (and being identified as the killer), witneses, etc. But let me play the game how I want.
  • Openess of the world. Make it more open, and with the allowance of using any method you want, whether it be sniping, poisoning, natural causes, etc, it should be sweet.
  • Interesting stories/morality. Someone wrote that the demo level was the best, because you weren't necessearily killing a bad/good guy, and that there was great character development. I think the biggest and noticable thing was the addition of cutscenes in the demo. I don't know if that's what I exactly want, but I'll love to be able to cold blodily go to my sniping spot and wait for the target (Oh, a wait option like in Oblivion will be nice), or stalk my target, see her play with children, talk with body guards, give her husband's work to a foreign spy, openly wonder about her future, and then poison her drink.

Those are the only two games I'm interested in. What about you guys?
