The thing I hate about threads like this is that every single game, and in fact every piece of entertainment in the world, can be called overrated or underrated. It just depends on your expectations.

CoD4 has a story, just not a particularly interesting or well thought out one. Your usual Russians and terrorists, except this time they are allied, which adds a whole new pointless twist.

Pretty much the entire single player campaign in CoD4 was a mess. There were a few great moments, like playing as Captain Price, and Death From Above, but most of it was generic crap. The online made it one of the best FPS games (I would say second to Killzone 2) this gen.

Compared to CoD4, any shooter's story is good. With the possible exceptions of Battlefield Bad Company, UT3 and Resistance 2.

But Killzone 2's story was genuinely good. There were no history lessons, but there was always a reason for what you were doing. And the backstory, if you've read it, is great.

Eh, agree to disagree then. I really enjoyed the single player experience and the story of CoD4. I thought they did a lot of unique things and the story wasn't Shakespeare but it was interesting enough and highlighted by a lot of great moments.

I agree I would like to see more weapons in killzone, but still the game is very nice, better than most of the other shooters I've played, online and single player. Overrated I don't think so, its rated at around 91%, COD4 and Halo3 had better rating and I think they deserved it, the game is well rated, its a really nice game and shouldn't be missed, its definitely a AAA game, the sound and graphics are top notch, but yes the controls if they would've been perfect this game would be one of the best shooters out there, but there still good enough I think to enjoy the whole experience.

My favorite games for this gen:

1. Gears of War 2. MGS4 3. Killzone 2 4. Halo 3(Underated by many) 5. Mass Effect

no one who have played killzone 2 multiplayer would say such thing as this game its overrated.

they way you explained it makes sense.. its just too bad that people take those 9-10 games for the pinnacle of human archievement.. and yes igns scoring system is quite ..well yes they do hand out a lot of 9.0 you can actually take more interest in any ign review with a below 9.0 score in those cases the result might be accurate

as for gamespot i oftem disagree with their scores.. but thats why you dont buy a game just because one review said it was good ..in that matter you dont buy any game because a review is good its just something to back up or dispel the notion you had about that game ..and sometimes its even accurate

OT: The aiming IS hard and sometimes I wish GG had made it a more twitchy affair but I don't find it horrible, its still a lot of fun to play and multiplayer rocks.

Pet peeves: Leveling up is way too slow, I'd muh prefer a faster leveling system with smaller reward and more levels. Having to wait for level 4 just to start getting new weapons is pretty annoying and before I got the extra ammo medal OMFG @ the starting gun's ammo! Two whole clip!!! Tops mate. And yea death animation sucks, I learn to look at the screen display as it is so delayed.

Killzone 2 is not over rated. Gears of War had its time to shine back in late 2006/ early 2007. Now it is Killzone 2 's time to shine. The game deserves its high praises.

Killzone 2 must be the graphics limit of a game on PS3. It is the best graphics in a game and no game on XBox 360 could ever match this. Future PS3 games equal or slightly less than Killzone 2 will be better graphically than any future XBox 360 game.

Killzone 2 is not overrated it is the best graphics game on console this generation. We should all acknowledge Killzone 2 graphics superiority over all console games and accept that it deserves its hype and sales.
