Forums - Gaming - WRPG or JRPG?

I love both... But WRPG would be the winner for me. Deus Ex, Baldur's Gate series, Planescape torment or even elder's scroll are just too good. Suikoden, Chrono Trigger or the Final Fantasies were great too but... a bit less.

And on the current gen, we haven't seen anything worthy on the japanese side of RPG (lost Odyssey was ok) while we have had a great game like Mass Effect from the west

I've played an RPG from Russia before. It's called Hard to Be a God and it's based on the Noon universe novel by the Strugatsky Brothers. What sort of RPG is it?

I don't like RPGs from Japan with a few exceptions:

Chrono Trigger -- I feel this is Japan's best RPG effort. The closest to a real CRPG experience IMHO

Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 -- Disney characters, though the gameplay is crap

There are a few others that are playable, like early Final Fantasy games (

no doubt JRPG have better story but WRPG could bring some suprise....

wrpg

I prefer JRPG. WRPGs feel more like adventure games, and there are not enough features that define an RPG for me (e.g. Battle swirls, turn based battles etc)

JRPGs

Some WRPGs are good. I hate JRPGs they are boring.

definetely WRPG's this gen

atleast till T3H FF13 comes!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

WRPG:s >>> JRPG:s.

I've yet to see a WRPG, or a FPS, or a TPS, or a platformer, or ANYTHING come close to the greatness that is Chrono Trigger.

Anyway, I haven't played that many WRPGs to make a fair call.
