Meh, all games have server issues at launch, PS3 AND 360. It'll be fixed within a week.

And what's this about taking out bots? Only temporary, I hope.

Funny I played Halo 3 launch day with no lag and no drops.

I was online on the east coast and saw the whole country light up hour by hour that night, then it was even worse the next day, but still no lag or drops.

And Halo 3 had a bigger launch.

I have YET to have any lag issue with Killzone 2.

I have no issues with KZ 2 online mode nor the skirmish mode.

@Maxwell- Yeh i know just like Gears 2 ay?? It was working fine with HUGE ass lag and ppl floating going trough wall glitches and you can find matches with ease with only like 30min of w8ting but yeh it's fine LMAO!!!!

The author of the OP apparently doesn't know anything about the big MP launches on the 360. Gear of War, Halo 3 and Gears of War 2 all has serious MP issues at launch that took weeks to iron out. Both Gears games are still a mess for competitive play, especially Gears 2 - Horde mode is pretty great, however.

I haven't had any issues playing Killzone 2 online yet, though at the same time, I don't doubt that others do. Finding a server that's not full has been my biggest issue.

Gears 1 had lag issues, and funny thing, I never said anything about Gears. nice straw man argument though, but completely wrong, nice going.

Microsofts service is paid, therefore they have more incentive to develop a strong architecture whilst Sony just has a massive expense, they rely on servers for 32+ player matches and they are trying to cut costs - hence less investment in infrastructure.

Doesn't MS use mostly P2P based servers, ie. they don't host them themselves but the players do? Of course it's a little more secure, but otherwise it's definitely worse than dedicated servers. That is, if the whole P2P thing is true; at least I've been hearing about it every now and then.

@max:

Didn't Halo 3 crash the entirety of Xbox Live for a day or two?

http://gamer.blorge.com/2007/09/26/influx-of-12-million-halo-3-players-crashes-xbox-live/

And then of course there are the crashes entirely unrelated to any specific game:

:P

OT: As far as I'm aware, removing the bots is only a temporary measure until they can come up with a more satisfactory fix.

happened later that week not the first couple of days :P

Personally for those two days I was playing the single player and local multiplayer so I didn't even know it happened lol

The Offline bots are still there, and to Squilliam: don't even act like Gears 2 and Halo 3 didn't have problems at their launches, cause they did! Regardless, this isn't a deal breaker IMO.

Huh? Since when did I imply anything like that?

@ Squilliam

Your post on the first page is implying that because Microsoft's service is paid, they'll not have (or shouldn't have) such frequent issues, or is that not it?

And my general impression is that Xbox Live has been more stable IIRC.
