Forums - Website Topics - The RPG genre is pretty big on our site...

There is something about the genre, when done right, that makes it deeper, more interesting, more engaging, longer lasting, more emotionally involved, and funner than other genres.

When gaming was invented, the RPG was the most obvious and highest reaching implication.

When done wrong, though, the genre is quite mediocre.

It's fairly obvious, however, that the genre is, and perhaps always shall, be the favorite of the console gamer in general.

Does your character improve in game, have a narrative, fight bosses? Well, you're playing an rpg. Did you really think Bioshock was a FPS? Is Zelda an "action" game? Is SotN a platformer? You are taking on the role of a character, and improving that character in order to reach a resolution. THAT is what single player gaming is all about, and that is why rpgs are the shit.

You know, I might've needed to say that later on, but you just saved me the trouble. This a big part fo why I love my RPG's.

And also a reason why it's so popular on a console website.

Well done, another great post to your tally, lol.

@vess13: Unpopular genres shouldn't get their forums. The polls are credible.

@Zucas: Don't you think gaming discussion wouldbe easier to navigate that way?

well now we agree(i hope), but action adventure platformer and maybe racer should be sections if RPG is one.

That is neither obvious nor really true.

A genre subforum is an unnecessary idea.

I really fail to see how this would improve the site, other then to glorify the genre.

Racers.. nah. Not much to discuss. Innovation is low these days. And variety is too.

Action Adventure.. maybe... lets see what big action/adventure fans have to say.
