killzone 2 wasn't hyped as much as halo 3 i dont think

Around the Network

I think over-hyped implies the games did not meet the claim they were making. In that sense the following games make sense

- GTAIV (it is GTA and thus can not really be revolutionary, most of the stuff has been tried in the GTA series before)
- HALO 3 (lots and lots of hype but I guess the game was on par with halo 2)
- Lair (controls let down a lot of people)
- Too Human (felt like the first part of a trilogy, no real hook for people to want to buy the 2nd or 3rd game)
- Haze (a decent game but not revolutionary)

I count "over hyped" as games that didnt meet my expectations. Such as...
GTA4
Halo3
Gears 2
Haze
Cod: WaW

Games that have lived to the hype are as so...
Killzone 2
MGS4
Gears 1
Cod4 :MW
Fallout 3

I'm with those who require an overhyped game to fall far short of the mark. LBP I don't think was overhyped much, for example.

I'd say Lair, Haze, Too Human, etc. are the real culprits.

GTA IV, MGS IV and KZ2 were certainly perhaps over-advertised - but then what big title in any industry isn't? I think those three delivered pretty much what was declared on the tin.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

If a game lives up to expectations then it is not over hyped, so I can not agree with your list. I would say a more realistic list would be;

-Lair
-Too Human
-Grand Theft Auto 4
-Haze
-Halo 3

All of those games were hyped massivly by their respective fanboys, and each of them failed to meet expectations.

Games like;

-Killzone 2
-Metal Gear Solid 4
-Gears of War 1 & 2
-Little Big Planet
-Mass Effct

All lived up to the hype around them and in turn, they are not over hyped, but hyped on good merit.

Excellent list. Personally, I'd have to mention Bioshock. It started as a step back from System Shock 2 and ended as a fetch quest, lousy boss fight and then a laughably bad ending (evil).

Around the Network

GTA IV
Metal Gear Solid 4
Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Halo 3
Killzone 2

Don't forget about Brawl.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)

Imo.

Gta4
Halo 3
Killzone 2.

Can someone bring up those graphs and numbers from Starcrafts thread last weak and just kill off this thread promptly?

I love when people don't look anything up and post nonsense.
