Forums - General - Will California legalize marijuana?

Why argue with Kasz? He thinks it should be legal and he thinks it should be California's right to legalize it. Who cares if he thinks it's stupid? I'm sure there's something that you think is stupid, even though you think it should stay legal. I feel that way about eating McDonald's.

Im just saying for people who call marijuana stupid. not trying to argue. just erks me when people have No idea what theyre talking about (not directed at you Kasz).

He's a troll. He seems to be mocking both the overenthusiastic right(I'm very convinced hes not for real, more like Colbert or something) and the overenthusiastic left (come on, he just says the things he thinks you guys will jump all over the most).

He'a probably just very bitter to be living in a state which was formerly one of the most conservative, Republican states in the country to a blue state with a Democratic governor, two Democratic senators etc. etc. in just a few years.

Red state w/ blue devils.  McDonnell is going to win this year and I am helping to push him over the top   We GOPs might turn NJ as well   Go Christie!

Whos Mcdonnel?

Someone broke the thread -

OT: I hope they legalise it, It would be good to see how it pans out in california. If things don't work out then you can always repeal it and you've learned a lesson.

We have just reclassified it in Britain, it's no longer s slap on the wrist offense. Labour are far too conservative... If that makes any sense.

Little thing called then Tenth Amendment:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

That's only if it falls outside of Congress' power though.  Outlawing drugs fits well within their commerce power.

Outlawing alcohol didn't fall within their commerce power. That's why it would head to the supreme court.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

The states can leaglize it. The government will still say it's illegal though.

The states SHOULD have the right to regulate it how they see fit... but this wouldn't be the first time the government took liberties.

Either way.  Hope they do.  I think it's stupid to do... espiecially considering the brain blood flow issue, but everyone should be free to do what they want with their body.

Marijuana stupid too do? although There has NEVER been a single death from it! and how many deaths are there from tobacco & alcohol? do some research please.

Never been a single death from it... really?

That's your position?  Cause that's blatantly not true.  There have been fatal car crashes caused by Marijuana. (Not at the same level as Alchohol but they exist.)

Though yes i do consider tobacco and alchohol stupid to do as well.  All short term highs for a feeling that isn't going to last and more satisfying to get through regular methods.  It's all basic Maslow stuff.

The biggest problem with marijuna is that it slows bloodflow in the brain even after very moderate use.

Which makes it harder to think and increases risks for such disease as Alhzeimers.  People ignore very real problematic effects becuase they get hung up on trying to pit it against Alchohol and Tobacco in the very big visible ways and because the government put out a lot of misinformation... I don't know.  For the hell of it i guess.

Isn't a car crash cause of death usually from hitting a wall or another car? I think he simply met there's never been a recorded overdose like alcohol.

I guess in the same way that nobody has ever died from someone firing the gun.

Gun's don't kill people.  Bullets do.

You could overdose on marijuana theoretically.  It would just take a lot of work.

hope they do, means I would ahev palce to go in the Stats. ;P

people drive like grannies while high. I thought everyone knew this? This is
why I make sure that I'm always going a bit ABOVE the speed limit cause cops
know if a young person is driving slow they are probably high as fuck and
they'll find some reason to pull em over.
