Forums - Nintendo - What went wrong with Deadly Creatures

Maybe it would have sold better if those spiders would have been anime-spiders with cute big eyes.

@Esse-Peterri,I doubt it.It would probably have sold less that way!

I'm surprised that people think that this game has zero appeal.

Ask yourself, "Who loves insects?"

Answer: Little boys

A few commercials on Nickelodeon, and this game could have been a lot bigger.

Wrong.  Little boys like to collect and maybe kill bugs, not pretend to be a bug.  A pokemon bug game might work but not one where your cast as a bug.

Want proof?   Sectaurs.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sectaurs

In the 80's Coleco launched a toyline on the premise that boys like bugs.  It had HUGE marketing.  A cartoon.  A comic series.  You name it, it had it.  It was trumpeted as the next 'big' thing.   Stores bought a ton.  And it failed completely.

Every hear of Creepy Crawlers?  I sure did when I was growing up. Whatever you brought up didn't fail cause it was bugs.  It failed cause it sucked.

They should have totaly got the the creepy crawlers license for this game lolol

Do you realize you're inadvertantly agreeing with me??  I said kids like to collect bugs, play with bugs just not be cast as a bug (unless it's cute).  Creepy Crawlers you make, collect and play with bugs.  Yes I agree this appeals to boys.  With Sectaurs (how did you not hear of this?) you tend to take on the role of the hero thereby casting yourself as a bug-like hero with a bug ride.  Not as appealing.  Same with Deadly Creatures.

Arachnaphobia is one of the highest ranked fears out there, did anyone really believe this game wouldn't flop?

That reminds me, I've got a great idea for a game called "Public Speaker X" The game involves speaking in front of progressively larger audiences. It comes bundled witha  microphone and index cards.

The game doesn't really have any replay value either if you ask me. Not that most ppl would even know that yet.

Excellent!!!

looks like there is some life sign showing with the game. According to this week's chart, it has sold 18507 copies in 4 weeks n NA... It is safe to say it will reach the 40K sales in my original post and perhaps double that.

Now the question would be "Is 150K sales WW enough to allow Rainbow Studios receive fund to make their next game?"

150K sales comes from 90K in NA and 60K in Others.

MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.

I feel sorry for this game.

The thing that went wrong is none of the store order this game! I can't find a store in my city that sells this game.

And what else went wrong is there was no adverting, no hype and no copies.
