I think they kind of set it up to where they could do the prequel as a full game.

I really hope so. I loved Heavenly Sword!
@kyliedog
heavenly sword is a sony ip ,so sony can ask any Dev they want to do it.It doesn't have to be ninja theory

@kylie dog
because they feel that dev was not efficient enough?they spend 3 years and the game was only 6 hours long with no multiplayer/ replayablity
so sony might feel that another dev can do a better/more efficient job than ninja theory
this i got from the wikipedia page
"We’re not abandoning HS just on a whim because we want to go off and do something different - there’s a great huge raft of reasons behind us taking the direction we are - and it’s also the nature of the business that I’m not allowed to share any of those reasons with you.
As for the ‘you’re just not doing HS2 NOW’ comments - well one thing you learn in this industry is that you never say ‘Never’. So I’m not going to say we’ll “never” go back and make HS2 - but it’s something I personally see as extremely unlikely."
as for the idea of letting another dev team make a sequel.. well we all know how well that works ..just take a look at kotor 2 T_T
but if there is going to be a sequel i want kai and roach to the be the main protagonists.. that would be a tag team of super awesomeness

Heavenly Sword is easily my favourite PS3 game and the only one i bothered to finish... twice. Awesome game, really hoping we could get a sequel!!
I agree Heavenly sword was an awesome game. It's production value is still unrivaled in my eyes. The character development, the graphics, the dialog, the audio were all top notch. I think if GODIII sells extremely well and shows that the genre has big market potential then they may develop a second Heavenly sword.
I kinda hope it's not Sony Santa Monica that does the game though. As much as I love GODIII I like all the different elements of Heavenly sword that separates it from just being a GOD clone.

If they halt one dev because they don't think is enough want for it why give to another dev? |

From what this tells me Ninja Theory was more interested in making multi plats since there is more money in it for them. (Hopefully) I'm sure the new game will be awesome and hopefully will be on the PS3 360 and Wii so many will see the magic Ninja Theory brings to the screen. It's sort of funny that NT started to developing for Microsoft and then crafted this rare gem for Sony when dismissed.
